Just putting it out there, I'v had my DDM400 for about 3-4 years now; with giggin' it often , and beating it up quite a bit. it is still just as good as when I got it. there is no build quality problems or sound problems. good spend of money is this mixer.

i bought this a few months ago and the sound quality is awesome, the effects are wide ranging and fully (and very easily) adjustable by using the screen. i think although you may use two decks now but you will always have the option of another 2 and won't have to buy another mixer to cater to your needs. i was a bit cautious about the negativity around behringers quality but after using this and the djm800 and can say i much prefer my DDM4000!

Hey Taylor, The first thing that comes to mind is the select options for BPM, you can change it so it is automatic instead of manual.. Ok so when it says uncertain, press the little auto bpm button that is on either side of the screen.. This will put it into auto for you and lock it up nicely.... Its not your machine, its all of the DDM's that do this.. Its because you can program it so deeply so there are SOOO many options.

It's a digital and analog mixer. In other words, you can use it as a standalone mixer or as a midi device which controls traktor.

Why cant there be more videos like this? Excellent work andre this gives us a proper idea of the mixer and what it can do. Theres one of these on the way to my house as we speak, Altough I wanted one before I saw this video, I want one a lot more now!

For the price, its great.. Well mine is, some other people seem to be complaining about faders, but in all seriousness, its a VERY cheap mixer with great features, so its not bullet proof and if you require that, you will need to spend accordingly. If you are prepared to look after your gear, this mixer, and its faders will serve you well. I know because mine is still operating perfectly

Hey Kamaakazi, Thanks for the comment, Behringer Australia sent me this mixer, so I guess 'they' as a company are doing the right thing and putting it in the hands of demonstrators that play with many products like it... Thanks though, glad you like the tutorial! I LOVE THIS MIXER...

it must be a new version that they quickly redid. i'm quite proud that i got this one though, the lights are perfect, and it also shows that behringer was listening to what people had to say about it

Hi, The mixer won't change the BPM of tracks for you, but because it has BPM counters, you can see how fast each track is going and then use your turntables or CD players pitch control to make them go the exact same speed. So, yes, it will tell you how to do it, but you still have to do part of it yourself!

Hi Tuco, Totally agree, the reputation stemmed from the analogue DJX700 mixer they created and really didn't sound right... The DDM is great. I use mine daily in my testing studio and run it as both a controller and audio mixer and I have had no issues at all. Definately a sound purchase in my opinion as the functionality for the price is great.

@molitz95 first question: you can plug any turntable/cd-player to any mixer second question: you can use it as a mididevice, in this case you won't be able to prelisten to the other channel, otherwise you defenetly need an audiodevice like audio2/4/8dj (6/10 are coming 1.4.2011) or (if you just want to try if this hobby fits to you) you can split a stereochannel or use the second channel of a multi-channel soundcart (5.1 soundcard for example) won't be as safe and good as the devices but works

Hey ktakytzu, It feels much better than the DJX-700 which agree was a terrible feeling mixer.. This one feels much stronger, works and sounds so much better! It has everything and has kept me happy.

The DDM sound is fantastic! Analogue is obviously older technology, but done well, in most situations, you can't beat its sound in my opinion. Thats just it, its all opinion, you probably will NEVER notice this sound difference with normal sound systems at small clubs or parties. The DDM uses advanced analogue to digital converters which gives you all the digital processing and effects on the interface. Traktor works great with the DDM and its already mapped so ready to go.
@andrecato
@andrecato 13 жыл бұрын
@FuMMoD Hey mate, just got a response from Behringer support on this one! It depends on how you are using the DDM4000. I assume if you are using it with Virtual DJ / Traktor then you may be using the DDM4000 in MIDI mode. If that’s the case then the PFL buttons also become MIDI switches, so they will have to be assigned to a corresponding CUE function in the software - in MIDI mode they won’t operate like a standard PFL button as they are now simply transmitting a MIDI note on value.

Also, you can save settings, but not PFL on. Hold down the main control button in the middle of the two screens to get into the setup. If you have one button that doesn't work as it should, take your mixer back and have it replaced straight away!!!!
@andrecato
@andrecato 15 жыл бұрын
You got it in one. you can plug it into your laptop, but you will need a midi to usb lead as the DDM has MIDI ports, but your computer will only have USB. Then yes, you can use your mixer to map any MIDI compatible messages with any of your DJ software.... No CD players required, you can even assign the transport controls of a cd player to the mixer...

i've had it for a month now and I feel it was worth every penny. it's offering everything I need and more, and it sounds great. I'm using the filters a lot, and though they are not as good as the filters and effects in traktor, it's so convenient to have them in front of me that I rather use the mixer nowdays. The sampler sucks, but I rather do that stuff with the computer. conclusion: buy yourself some nice stickers to put on the behringer logo and then go buy this unit! this unit is the shit.

@SeismicReptile The mixer will do you fine for that, what you will need though if you want to really be able to scratch well is the upgraded X1 cross-fader for this mixer which will be much better for scratching... Very economical way to do what you want with your CDJs...

1. - Yes, its much better and certainly club worthy. Digital sound output is excellent. 2.- If you are going to use the DDM4000 for control, you won't have to worry about connecting it to another mixer, you will use an audio interface out of your computer and connect that to your club mixer.

@Monchi2006 This is only a mixer. A standard setup would require 2 audio sources such as turntables or CDJ's. You can get ambitious and have up to 4, hence the four channels.

There are 3 MIDI ports on the back of the unit. IN/OUT/THROUGH. You use a MIDI to USB adapter (about $20-30USD)or you plug the MIDI IN/OUT to an Audio/MIDI interface...

@andrecato I love your honesty. Behringer really has made some great gear but darn cheaply. And it's a bad thing since the build quality is important in music making. You want to be able to gig with your gear and throw it around and be confident that it will keep working the whole tour. For a professional time is money and time can be more important than money.

To be honest, I have never played with a D4, but they look beautiful, and with the Mackie branding, you can only assume it sounds as so also. They are very different mixers however. The DDM is an all in one Digital mixer and controller, and the D4 is analogue, so they act and will sound very different. The DDM has more features, but the D4 will probably do what it does better as there are fewer things that could possibly go wrong. Buy Mackie for better sound... Buy the DDM for features/price

@wetmau5 There are a few different ways... As Mike has already replied, if you have an internal soundcard in your computer , you can connect audio in, via the 3.5 or whatever type of input you have for sound.. But the WAY more common way to connect it would be via a USB lead! Then your DDM4000 is just one big soundcard for your computer....

I haven't tried with the included .tks file as I mapped it myself. I am sure if you look online, you will find many .tks files for it, and many forums talking about it. Or you can simply use midi learn and map it, which is a great thing to learn how to use.

Hey Omlet, The bleeding in the DJX700 is because of a few things.. Firstly has analogue pots and faders, like I talk about at the beginning of the video demo. The DDM is FAR superior to ANYTHING Behringer have created for DJs in the past... Anyway, go play with one or ask more people in DJ shops.. But yes, the bleeding issues that you find in the DJX700 and the same thing you find in the DJM600 from Pioneer is a thing of the past thanks to new faders, pots and of course the digital parts!

Well your money will certainly be well spent with the DDM... The DJM400, like you said is only 2 channels... Even if you THINK you only need 2, you will find yourself on the DDM4000 using extra channels for loops and samples you record... I would go DDM4000 hands down, provided you have the space for the larger size mixer.

I was a big fan of the 5000 when it came out. The fact that it had the ability to scratch audio and had a reverse switch were both cool features, but the DDM is MUCH newer, MUCH better sounding and MUCH better and more extensive features. I do love Numark, but there seriously is no comparison between the DDM and 5000fx. Oh, the other thing is that the DDM is digital and the 5000 is analogue.

Obviously it's better than previous behringer mixers but is this mixer club worthy? 2) How easy would it be to link up to another mixer and would this deteriorate the sound quality? The DDM has great sound quality for the cost of the mixer. Obviously you could go out and spend a lot more money on a mixer that would give you better sound, but as far as club DJ mixers go, its certainly comparable to the DJM800 tested on a medium sized sound system. A more expensive Vestax mixer will give you a warmer analogue sound and their digital mixers are fantastic,but way less features than the DDM4000... Its all about choice, but for the money, you can't compare it to any other.
