Our Flow8 has been perfect for a couple of years. Someone plugged a guitar pickup into a channel that had phantom turned on. That damaged the channel. Thankfully these Flow8 devices are pretty inexpensive. For some reason I haven't gotten a good feel for how to use the FX in a way I can turn it on and off with a button press during mixed speaking and singing events, so I just don't use it. Maybe I'll take the time soon.

not sure why they nutered the FX system. Locked Fx busses? the best part about the X32/XAIR is that you can insert an Fx unit onto a channel. the virtual Guitar amp is really cool but I guess not cool enough for this device.

It's not a control surface, so no. If you need that option you may want to check our Zoom R series of inteefaces.

How does this mixer compare to a traditional one for live gigs? I may have to use one with a band for a forthcoming gig, and I'm concerned that it'll take far too long to set up. Better perhaps to just bring our usual mixer. Anyone able to comment on this from their own experience?

The Flow 8 does not have motorised faders but shows a sync indicator light when the phone has changed the fader position. On the Flow 8 the fader movement will not change the channel level until it matches the level on the phone app.

Technically yes, thought it isn't exactly designed for this... There are only 2x monitor sends. So this will allow you to feed 2x mono IEM mixes. You can also monitor via the headphone output too.

Yes, but there are only 2x FX engines so you can only run 2x different effects at a time (eg a reverb and a delay) but you can independently adjust both of these for each channel.

Hi I hope you can help me fix this. I just bought the flow 8 and a brand new MacBook. I installed simply put and Everything goes well until after I select the newest version (738 now) and click update. A legend comes up that reads… DFU ERROR 7: failed to prepare dfu update. The mini screen in the mixer stays red in update mode until I turn it off. One time the legend didn’t appear and it continued to update in the simply put but the mixer said UPDATE FAIL. If anyone could help me i would really appreciate it.

Hey Tania, that doesn't sound good. You will probably need to return it to the store that you bought it from so that they can investigate and potentially replace it for you if the error can't be resolved.

It has 2x TRS monitor sends that could be used to feed IEM systems. The XVive u4 is an XLR plug-on so you'd need some adaptors or cables to hook them up. Beware of latency too - the Flow 8 will add a tiny amount, and the Xvive u4 will certainly add some being a digital device (around 5ms). You may be better going with an analog IEM solution. Both the Xvive and the Flow 8 run on 2.4GHz frequencies so also beware as this frequency is used heavily and you'll only be able to use so many devices depending on whether there are any other wifi / bluetooth gear running at the same time.
