Behringer Model D and K2 synthesizers sequenced by Doepfer Dark Time

Typical minimoog sounds from the Model D and much more quirky and weird tones from the Korg MS20 clone. I sold my MS20 a year ago as I never used it that much and the K2 is smaller and more convenient for occasional use in my setup; I think a lot of people found the original Korg MS20 a bit illogical and hard to get sounds on compared to other synths ... but if you persevere there are unique and uncontrollably violent and crazy experiences to be had. The Model D sounds good but does drift in tune for the first few minutes until it warms up, just like the original oscillators in a minimoog.

Appreciate these blogs as helpful to me in terms of progress... is there a significant difference in utility or performance between the Doepfer and the Behringer 960? Thanks

The Doepfer Dark Time is much more versatile for sequences up to 16 notes and is both midi and CV/Gate with quantizing if required. The 960 is great for sequences up to 24 notes ( with 962 sequential switch) but is CV only. I prefer the 960 for live performance as the switches on the Dark Time are rather close together. You can have rest notes on the Dark Time but not on the 960. The 960 can have 3 parallel 8 note sequences and 2 on the Dark Time. The 960 clocks forwards only. The Dark Time can be forwards, backwards or random. The Dark time has a global range switch of 1V, 2V or 5Volts. The 960 has three separate range switches of 2V, 4V and 8Volts and has the unique feature: 3rd row control of timing which allows the tempo of the internal VCO to be controlled by the CV of that row. Doepfer Dark Time can divide down midi clock input to easily sync with other devices. So they are quite different but can make similar sequences, that's why I have both.

Thanks for your detailed reply... i am in the process of considering my next and probably final purchases to round off my small studio... I am ok on the music side but I find the technology somewhat baffling... it's a slow process but I am enjoying it... clocking is my main question at present but maybe I'll save that for another day... you have become my Yoda! ✌️👍
