A small tutorial. How to connect your Neutron to midi gear and Logic Pro X DAW. And some basic sounds. At 24 seconds it should read assure instead of asure... Slipped through.

I really like your style of tutorial. A lot of synth tutorials have people talking way too much while they show off how advance they are at whatever instrument they’re playing, quickly skipping over any educational content. Subscribed.

I really like your review of this tutorial. A lot of reviews of reviews or tutorials focus too much on the technical side of the review or tutorial or complement the original poster too much… you’ve been quite restrained. Hope someone will give my review of your review of the the tutorial good feedback.. nervous now.. 😬

hi, how did you make external instrument and how did you choose midi destination? I bought Logic Pro x but can't do what you did, holy crab, thanks!
@RobertIverMusic2 жыл бұрын
Hi Fedor, the ‘external instruments’ can be found were the rest of the plug-ins are. It’s in the same list as the sampler, retro synth etc. And as soon as you create the new external instrument you’ll be able to choose a few options in the dialog box.

Ive been trying to use my neutron with my keystep but for some reason it doesn’t make any sound with just the midi cable connected (midi out through the keystep and in through the neutron, correct?). Only seems to work if I patch it through the cv outputs a certain way, which is inconvenient for performing because I have to keep them super close, and annoying because I don’t have full freedom over the patch bay. What am I missing?
@dominooo3713 жыл бұрын
Yo, I'm in the exact same boat. Did you ever get the keystep to talk to the neutron via midi?

Nice demo. Could you recommend a good stereo delay/reverb unit for a nice stereo effect? Thanks.🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
@RobertIverMusic5 жыл бұрын
Software solution would be the Valhalla delay and reverbs. Amazing! Hardware: depends on budget. Even the cheap pedals from Behringer sound very good. For a little more cash the TC pedals. I really like the Meris pedals and Red Panda. But there are a lot of great options out there. I have a TC Alter Ego X4, and a Red Panda Tensor and some Moogerfooger pedals.

Hello Robert, what actually happens when the osc sync is on and the ocs 2 is sent to osc1? With sync off, the FM seems to work both ways, but when it is on, only osc1 to osc2 would work. Osc2 (mod) to osc1 (carrier) with osc sync on would make some weird pitch(ish) sounds.
@RobertIverMusic5 жыл бұрын
Hi DH, I did follow your suggestion and I think it works very well if used via the attenuator. Thanks for the tip. The pitchy thing is indeed quite pronounced to say the least if used directly.

Who needs a Moog when the basson this is killer? But I'm a total newbie. How would I route this using saying, a Prophet rev 2 (or 12) and a few Strymon pedals so i could use the bass and sequencer, maybe a few other things, on the Prophet?

Hi, I am connecting my neutron through key step 37 and the output is through my headphones. The sound is very unclear and I could barely hear it. Any fixes around this?
@RobertIverMusic3 жыл бұрын
You could check the sensitivity of your headphone or the output of the neutron.

Newbie question: I want to do this without a daw/computer. Why did you use a Logic X? This is not needed if I’m not trying to record, right? And I have hardware effects. Thanks anyone.

Hi, could i know what all cables are required for connecting Neutron to Sound Card? I have the a Steinberg UR242 external audio interface, plus a Neutron, plus a Novation Launckey 61, now how do i connect all these. I did go through the manual, but do i need a TRS to TRS unbalanced cable or TS to XLR3M Pro Unbalanced Interconnect Cable?, which i can get it from Amazon. Also to make the midi keyboard work for neutron, how do gets things connected?
@RobertIverMusic5 жыл бұрын
Connect the Neutron and the Novation both with an usb cable to the computer. It kind of depends on your software (Cubase has a different approach then let's say Logic etc.) on how to get the novation to to communicate with each other. You can use a simple jack to jack to connect the Neutron to the Steinberg.

If the midi out from your keyboard transmits on the same channel as your midi in on the Neutron I see no reason why it should not function. Check this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6mQeXmbmN-kpsk

Can the digital lfo be clocked to daw tempo? I have heard so, but can't find out how
@RobertIverMusic5 жыл бұрын
You need to send a ‘clock’ tempo signal from your daw or hardware sequencer and then you’re good to go.
@JubileeGiggles5 жыл бұрын
@@RobertIverMusic hm... does it not automatically do it? I also have a lifeforms sv-1 and fl studio. As soon as I hit play on the daw, the lfo light is in synch. With the neutron, it doesn't seem to do that, even when i know Ive synched midi

@RobertIverMusic4 жыл бұрын
Jason, chill ;-) Connect a usb cable from your pc or Mac to the keystep. And connect the Neutron with a usb cable to the pc or Mac. Obviously audio out of the Neutron to the interface. In the DAW choose the midi channel that the Neutron is on. To record the Neutron, just choose a audio channel and press record.

Can anybody suggest how I could use the neutron with a usb port only on my midi keyboard?
@Arperture5 жыл бұрын
You might can do it with a hub, but usually the USB port on the MIDI keyboard needs a host computer to work.
@iampeaking5 жыл бұрын
You can’t do it directly. You will need something called a USB Host device. Kenton makes one but in some cases may be just as expensive as the USB MIDI keyboard itself.
