Not really a big fan of Behringer but Moog brought this on themselves with ripping off the fans of their OG synths and relying on their name and previous success. Or look at it like this: if you manage to look like the bad guy even against Behringer you really have lost touch to reality as a company ;)

Let’s put it in this way: today more than one company sells OLED technology. They all use similar components. Do all invented all of that from the scratch?. In any case I prefer seeing instruments accessible for all artists instead of having the access limited to those who can afford it only, several of them just collectors with a snobbish attitude, but I am more on the side of the promotion and spreading of music and artistic expressions than keeping this historical elitism ;)

@@AndertonsKeyboardDept I am considering getting a Behringer Poly D and the Model D. I was going to get an original Minimoog Model D from the 1970's or the reissue from 2016 but they are too expensive. I looked on eBay, and Reverb and those things cost like $4,000 or $8,000 dollars. I can't afford it so I would rather go with Behringer even though they may not be the same thing because it is cheaper.

At these prices, it's worth buying both of them (which I did). But the Poly-D is worth the extra money. The stereo chorus sounds amazing, and the extra space on the panel makes it much easier to play with live and tweak. Plus there's the paraphony/polyphony, the sequencer, the keyboard, the stereo outputs, etc. All in all, it's just a better keyboard. In fact, it's even better than a real Minimoog.

I agree that the Behringer Poly D is better than the original real Minimoog Model D from the 1970's. I've read a few people saying the Model D can get more aggressive and overdriven like the original due to the gain staging of the mixer and relatively low output of the poly D. Did you have to add a lot more gain to the poly D when playing in mono? Then there's the feedback trick too. Some say the Poly D sounds more smooth. What are your thoughts on it?

1:19 what a dingus you can clearly see he has a square fundamental on the ModelD and all saws on the Poly. Also has different octave settings which can change the filter tracking. You had one job!... now for the bad news. I've done extensive tests against the original Minimoog off of videos, as well as the app, and now against the Behringer Model D and can confirm the gain staging on the Poly D prevents it from getting that really nice saturated, dark and bassy tone of the Behringer Model D or Minimoog. Go to the 1:19 mark and listen to how they handle the low C. Yes dingus here uses a square wave in the Model D which boosts the bass sound, but I can confirm it is very hard if not impossible to get that same sound without fiddling on the Poly D unless you do tricks with the overdrive and use the extra oscillator for a pure sine wave. Now don't get me wrong the Poly D sounds fantastic, but it really doesn't fully sound like a Minimoog once you start stacking Oscillators. Comparing single oscillators, it can sound close. But there's something in the mixer gain that it's lacking to get that nice smooshed-together deep round sound of multiple oscillators. It's too bad it can't get the same sound as the Model D because in almost every other way the Poly is superior. I never have to wait for it to warm up, the components are great quality, and get in tune and everything else is really nice. I don't think I'm trading this in to get a Model D, but I just wish the Poly sounded like the cheaper little brother!
