I’ve always liked behringer. As a broke teenager, behringer pedals were the only thing I could barely afford. I remember buying one and expecting it to sound horrible, but I was pleasantly surprised at how usable they were. I was too afraid to step on them in case they broke, but I still have an eq from that time. When I got older and got a job, I could afford much more gear, but I still kept coming back to behringer because I’ve used so much of it and it rarely broke in a way I couldn’t fix with a soldering iron or some glue and they were a great deal for what I paid for them. From pedals to mixers and preamps, I really liked the products and the low price meant I can just buy, test and modify things to suit and not invest every penny saved. That made it fun. To see the company progress to synths is really awesome, and it means that I can realistically own a lot of awesome gear and while it isn’t exactly cheap, there aren’t too many zeros behind the price. The poly d is on my list, but first the model d... and a few other things

No kidding. I owned an old V-Amp back in like high school that was terrible and I swore off of them for years. After reading good reviews, I took a chance and I bought a UMC404HD interface a couple years ago that I love. I followed that purchase with a DI box that I also love. Seeing what they're doing with these synths makes me really glad that this company is finally producing products that can help shake of the bad reputation they had for all of those years.

They haven't successfully cloned _any_ synth yet, as none can produce 100% exact behavior. You can say that the differences 'don't matter' but then what do _differences_ mean in the first place?

Yeah I was going to comment on this too. It’s a cool new synth, but it appears to not be an actual polyphonic Model D, but a paraphonic one instead. So it’s technically more comparable with the new Matriarch from Moog. But still, it’s a cool new product.

Behringer do not produce any particularly hand-made instruments, though. They produce huge automated runs at scale and spend maybe 2-5 minutes per unit making sure the functions work before packing into a box. That's not how professional synths are made, and certainly not how a higher-priced analog poly is made.
