Behringer's Model D + KORG's Volcas Keys and Beats + Cool MIDI trick

I have just released an album called “Keloid Clinic” in which I use intensively the Model D coupled with Korg’s Volcas Keys and Beats.
Since I like to improvise a lot and record on the spot (directly to tape), I found this very cool trick where I use control Voltage and MIDI at the same time. Very handy when it comes to record whole parts of a track in real time !

Pretty nice Video, very well explained. I´ve got a question to you if you do not mind; How can connect model D and Volca Keys using Model D´s midi thru (of course I´ve already connected it, nothing happens!!)? Do you think I could send a sequence from Model D (previously sent it to Model D by a keystep) to Volca Keys? Thanks so much!!!

Sure! Plug your sequencer into Model D's MIDI In and then go from MIDI Thru into Volca Keys MIDI In. One thing you'll have to do is to set your Model D on a different MIDI channel since Volca's operates only on channel 1. Look at the little switchs in the back of the Model D to select another channel (like channel 2). Thanks for watching !

What happens if you send the MIDI thru from the Model D to the MIDI in on the Volca Keys? Does that transpose the internal sequencer on the Volca?

Yes, but only if you have a sequence programmed on the Volca - i.e. the Volca won’t be responding to the sequence on the SQ-1. Lots of possibilities as you see, and the Keys could be really fat sometimes (really surprising for a little batterie powered synth!). Also, via MIDI thru, lots of other synths can gives you surprising stuff, depending on the features they have.
