Mixer/eq/crossover/amp. Otherwise you would need and equaliser with multiple inputs or two equalisers as the signal is split.

Hi! I know 5 yrs ago, but if you get this, can I ask you a question. This is for home audio and not car, which a lot of these things are made for. I need a crossover to a new Open Baffle, 2 speaker driver( 2 each side ) My concern is the top and mid end is in a coaxial driver ( the other is the low bass driver ) so 2 way but in fact its 3 way if you take into account the coaxial handles 2 frequencies. Question would the CX3400 ( now version 2 ) be able to handle the crossover settings ? many thanks.

Always run your subs as summed. That will add 6 db. Also anything below 65hz, is omni directional (goes everywhere), so running the subs in stereo works in a arena( 3k+) for more control, but clubs 1500 and below it doesn't matter.Running subs in mono gives 2x more bass. I usually run a 18 folded horn and 2 front loaded 18's mono, in these smaller rooms(2500 and below).

I seem to have a fundamental misunderstanding with pa crossover modules. Why do they make the crossover knobs L/R as appose to Low/High? It doesn't make sense to me that I have to control L/R crossover points with 2 knobs. Is there a 2 way module where I only need to control one knob for the crossover point for the whole setup?
@justifiedsoul692 жыл бұрын
You may already have figured this out, but the only way to operate with just one knob is if you are running in Mono. I'm not sure if you would want a 2 way mono system in fairness. Mono for subs is fine but for the tops/mid stereo is preferable unless you have both speakers in different locations (a house party with one speaker in one room and one in another). Hope that helps.

Thanks just got one of these and your video is extremely helpful. Question,, and appreciate any info you can provide, if I did the three way set up would I plug the high and mid into my powered speaker? I notice they have two inputs. If so is there any advantage to doing that?
@evanjohnmo6 жыл бұрын
Hi elk, powered speakers are internally crossed over, so you wouldn't necessarily send two inputs to a powered speaker from a unit like this in hopes to divide the frequency between the tweeter and woofer. That other speaker input is probably for another audio device like a guitar or microphone. You can; however, adjust your output frequency to your powered speakers using this device, which is nice since it will be within your reach using a nearby rackmount case.

Plugged it in exactly the same as you did everything exactly the same but not getting the same result. Still have my amp abs the Xpro at like +4/+6 dB Any ideas or help?
@evanjohnmo5 жыл бұрын
Generally this device is not meant for gain increase. You can get it to crank the output a little bit, but 90% of your volume should be provided by your amps. I would need to know more about the amplifiers and subwoofers you are using in order to properly give information on setup. Crossovers like these are really only meant to separate frequencies from your audio inputs.

Hi, i use two subwoofers. Can i use 3 way mode? High, mid is not connected, only low ( bass ). And my second question, i must use stereo jack for my amplifier, or maybe only mono jack? Thx for help

It depends if your amp is stereo or mono. My amp is stereo, so two mono out from low out to each amp channel, then into the subs.

@avergison4 жыл бұрын
Also wondering. In my four way I'm using the cx3400 in 2-way stereo to split subs (summed) from the remainder, which then goes to a Driverack PA2. The 25 Hz high-pass was a trigger, dbx xover has 40 Hz, too high for my subs.
@AndrewNelson19854 жыл бұрын
I have both, behringer 3 way cross over with mono sub out. I use this in my smaller rig with active speakers. I also have a dbx pa2 drive rack compmete with wireless network, in my big rack thats 10,000 watts. That rack uses a rack mount pc as well, its an absolute monster. I can say between the 2 i can get them to sound very close. However the pa2 significantly more features and being able to tune a room walking around on an ipad is a game changer. The behringer 3 way i use with a 31 band eq and thats pretty much it. 1 rack weighs maybe 50lbs while the other weighs over 300 lbs.

I have one ..what an awesome piece of equipment I run my subs in mine coming from my Beringer vmx 1000 mixer using the subwoofer output on the vmx 1000 mixer .I never use my limiter and it has never clipped ...also using the sum button on the rear you add the benefit of using both Chanel's in the 4 way mono mode.. I am a bass head junkee/addict so that feature doubles the addiction ha ha lol.... caution.. warning...clicking the crossover frequencies with the volume turned up will result in a very loud pop.. please set your preferred mode of use with volume turned completely down... front adjustments no problem but activating modes from the rear with volume up could damage unit speakers and even your amp.me not knowing this before hand switched from 2/3 way to 4 way the pop was so loud that it clipped all 6 of my amps off ....so be careful.. glad I brought it a the vmx 1000 Beringer mixer ....3 years now not a problem with either thank you KZbin thank you Behringer..thank you sir for the best explanation thus far on this awesome crossover.
