Thanks for the vid. I take it that Behringer has a 'channel-drop' reputation... I didn't know that but I have a small Behringer 15W amp and it seems to be running fine. I run the R-Main output of my E-Kit to the Behringer amp and the L-Main output of the E-Kit to my 200W Polk Audio subwoofer. The kit sounds great for practicing and the though the Behringer amp can only handle the high octaves/frequencies, the subwoofer brings in the fill and grabs the lowest ones very nicely. Of course, if I was going for a stage setting, I'd get a 400W Marshall or something like that and leave the Behringer and subwoofer at home, (where they belong anyway). I have the Q502 and I'm going to try it with some short recordings to my Reel to Reel decks. Lately, I've been practicing and working on some new rhythm patterns I came up with. I record the patterns to my larger, 1/2-track, Reel to Reel at 15ips and then when the tape is full, I save it to disc. I've never used a mixer like the 502 before and I'm still very unsure of the actual process. What I've been doing is connecting my Reel to Reel deck to the Line-Input on my desktop. Then I open Mixpad and and record the Reel to a file and save it as a project. After that, I break the recordings down to clips and with each clip, I add whatever corrections, effects, or EQ I want. Then I save and covert to disc. The Q502 may take a step out of the process if the little 2-band EQ can do some light bass/treble work. The R/L output balance would be another thing for the Q502 as well as controlling the max volume/gain. That'll leave the Mixpad to only have to add some effects or final EQ and of course, break the recording down to individual clips. I got the 502 yesterday and I have to say that I wasn't very impressed. In fact, I need to check it because I may not have a working 1&2 channel input. I bought it as an "Used-Like New" item on Amazon because I wasn't all that sure I could even use the thing the way I planned. At this point, if the channels 1 & 2 are dead, I think I'll just return it and call it a day. If the channels are OK, I'll see if it gives me any advantage over the way I've been doing things. If not, I'll return it and pay for the shipping. Thanks again for the video. Rich

Can you monitor your vocal through the mic input while hearing music coming from the computer? I have a 302usb, I use it as my home recording studio audio interface, I like it because it has direct monitoring of mic inputs, you can't turn off direct monitoring its always on, I like this feature because its always 0 latency monitoring when playing back from and recording to my computer. Does the 502usb have a similar feature? I would like to upgrade for the compressor and FX.

Nice vid, subbed and liked. Keep it up. You really helped me. The way you explained everything was very straight forward w/o any unnecessary bs like most of the tech channels do so they'd get 10 min vid :D

What i want in a mixer is.... USB to computer, and the computer can play a song to the mixer, And I can talk at the same time, and the music and my voice gets returned back to the computer USB. (Loopback) does one of those do this?
@Farrukhw3 жыл бұрын
On 802, can do you the loopback thing without a shot the In-Out cables?

Appreciate the straight up vid. I think the phantom power light thing is the same deal with power bricks. You unplug them and the light stays on because of residual charge or whatever that eventually dissipates. Anyway, I want one of these to use with twitch (on voicemeeter now but mic died so weighing the xlr vs usb mic replacement) and I've heard people do voice trick deals with the 1204 (which is just too much for me lol). Is that a software adon deal? Or does the FX knob come into play? That knob is really the only reason I want to 802 over the 502.
@proaudio10145 жыл бұрын
i agree on the phantom power. The FX knob on the 802 is basically an aux send. It does not have any built in effects!.. the label is misleading. Its basically for sending the signal to other hardware effect units. i have FX on my 1622 mixer and its cool but personally i like doing it all in post myself. any audio software has tons of effects (plugins). Lots of free ones available for download that get the job done.

So if I plug my synth out and my drum machine out, plug my guitar (micd up) and my vocal all at the same time using the bigger one? Eq it all in mixer then send it to my tape recorder so I could record all on one track?
@proaudio10145 жыл бұрын
yes you could. although if you mic the guitar (amp i assume?), the vocal mic will pick it up as well. may be muddy but will work

does the q802 record on 24bit? I heard the q502 is up to 16bit only.

Hello excellent video, only that my English is quite limited. What recommended condenser microphone for the Q502 USB? May it work with that phantom power. + 15v

Thank you. One question I cannot find an answer for. (Using a Windows 10 PC plus Cakewalk (Sonar) DAW and 302USB mixer which I've just acquired) I have a small Cakewalk project to which I want to add some backing vocals. Obviously I need to hear the project output from PC plus my voice via headphones so that I know when/what to sing (!) - but I only want to record MY VOCAL as a track into Cakewalk. (So basically I want to use the mixer as a monitor output and a recorder for JUST the vocal.) Is this possible? Cheers!

Nice video, I have a question about what could be better for my case, looking only for microphone, no instruments, I just want something for stream and podcast, I'm thinking of a situation for at least 2 people, was seeing two situations, the q802usb and umc202hd, which suggests to me for my purpose, values here both are pretty much the same! Congratulations again on the video.

Hey, I've had the 502 for 25 years or more, mine doesn't wobble nor does the phantom light stay on, turns right off, nothing broken on it either and it has got beaten up, heh. EQ an compressor are pretty sweet for the price. Good as small interface too! Cheers.
