def not mastering gear. plugins have come such a long way. To justify analog gear, it must be of stellar quality to outweigh the cumbersome workflow. what can this paritcular unit, that a plugin can't do? with vacuvox, massive passive and the likes, it's a different story! Great for live sound and probably tracking or mixing though!
@Nooely7 ай бұрын
@@20Lukas93definitely mixing gear, surely also usable for mastering. The difference is hard to explain, but I’ve worked over 20 years with plugins and since around 7 years with real outboard gear, the latter is sounding better, more reliable and eliminates using 100 different compressors

This is so exciting, Behringer! Imagine if all your outboard gear had digital recall capabilities from a DAW. You could load a Behringer VST plugin to control all your outboard gear within one interface, with settings saved alongside the project! Then it would be possible to add large amounts of outboard gear, making switching between projects as seamless as using software plugins. For those who don't need this feature - the gear would still function just like the original analog equipment. Give me a thumbs up if you want this feature!

You would need servo's for getting the dials back in place. Otherwise you need digital filters that are able to set it's position digitally, and we don't want that.
@ABouchez6 ай бұрын
@@djriches1 No need for servos. Most of the dials are just switching some resistors. They could just put a the dial in a "digital" = neutral position, then command a resistor value from the digital signal. It could have the benefit to override the digital value live with the dial, if needed.

I second everyone asking for more gear like this beauty. Sounding good from the video so far. Congratulations on the release
@StudioFanThess4 ай бұрын
I bought it 2 days ago. It took me a long time to understand the way the limiter-compressor chain works. While in the video it says that the signal first goes through the limiter and then through the compressor, I can confirm that the opposite happens. You immediately understand this if you increase the gain from the compressor. You can hear the limiter holding back the power of the gain and not listening to the music any louder. We also need to make it clear that the threshold (limiter or compressor) starts to press turning the button from right to left. Basic: The limiter is affected by the gain of the compressor. The more gain from the compressor, the more gain reduction from the limiter. As for the threshold & gain knobs, I'm still putting ointment on my fingers that blistered from trying to turn the knobs. The sound is clean and quite aggressive for my taste (I'm more of avalon's sound fan) but with a little more time you can find what you want. I think it will suit me better in drums bus and maybe in mastering with the aim of using the limiter. I hope I helped.
