@saghms91 what do you think is cheap about it, first of all, and second of all, he doesnt look great in this bout but in all fairness he looked a little tentative about being in the olympics in the first place. there are a lot of fencers who look nervous/tentative in the first few rounds then calm down later when they relax a little more

this is the first bout i've seen Meinhardt fence in and it doesnt seem as tho hes doing well. i would like to see a bout where he fences well before judging him. Also he made it to the top 16 in the olympics, kind of hard to do, so think twice about saying hes bad

@zatoichi37 sabre is the one with the most bad calls, its really not a comparison. but foil definitely has the most things that can be wrong with both weapons and electric stuff

ha i just saw this one. Ah that makes sense, also makes sense why you speak (type) english so well. Footwork is definitely key. I have fenced meinhardt, the kid just doesnt miss. Im really fast so i didnt have trouble getting away but once you're close enough its pretty much over with. Im not a fan of Joppich's style. My fav fencers are Le Pechoux and Cassara, and i like Casetleanni's stance (dont know how to spell the poor kids name). but hes an american kid, just got to college. im 25 btw

@saghms91 they worked for him earlier in the bout (he got 2 points from zhu failing to riposte and him remising) and, honestly, gerek was a little nervous in this bout and kept rushing. btw dont trash other fencers unless you have met or gone beyond the achievements that they have

oh dont get me wrong dude, i was attacking you or anythin gi was just curious cause i rarely run into international fencers so i dont have an opportunity to listen to their critique of how we fence here. I did run into a fencer who was on the french national team (but now he lives here) and his footwork is amazingly clean

heh, just curious, from your perspective. What about Meinhardts style do you find sloppy? he seems to have no problem kicking everyones ass here, but i do realize, as far as foil is concerned we have some things to learn still from the europeans.

with all respect to Meinhardt don't think he's a good fencer he using cheap moves(5:01 what type of fencer will do that ) to fence in the Olympics you need to be strong fencer ( 3:32 what kind of fencer will do that kind of launch weak,unbalance) and not making Zhu work hard for the point ( see Zhu when he fence Sanzo for the Bronze )

And yet, Gerek has fenced in multiple Olympics, had medaled, and is currently #2 in the world. after his win at Doha His results speak for themselves.

When Gerek Meinhardt falls in the water, he doesn't get wet: wet gets Gerek Meinhardt. Meinhardt attacks sharks, when he smells them bleed. Meinhardt can speak French... In Russian.

@EnV9999 well I know for sure if I fence him at that time I would beat him,but to be fair and square he had improved since then to answer you it's good to be inventive & creative certain point in fencing. However getting to the Olympics request from the fencer to do high percentage attacks and I agree with that every fencer has it own style in fencing, if you compare between gold medals fencers almost all of them use high percentage hits (with balance footwork).

First of all I said with respect to Meinhardt that mean yes he have worked hard to get here, but he still need to work on his tactics and the mistakes he had done during the bout a good fencer won't do.
