It feels very American. Lots of Office towers with glass facades, and huge wide streets. Definitely not what I was expecting.

I totally get what you mean! The modern areas of Beijing can feel very different from the traditional image most people have. But just around the corner, you’ll find ancient alleys (hutongs) and historic temples-it’s an amazing mix of old and new!
