Anywhere with humans has crime unless it has no laws (in which case it's jungle rules, might-makes-right). Remote, low population areas and insular communities tend to hide their crime to maintain the appearance of perfect stability and order. That illusion is so critically important for the functioning of small, tight-knit communities that it must be maintained at all costs. Even if it means murders being labeled "accidents" or simply "disappearances". The most egregious examples are usually sexually-based offenses which are rarely spoken of, let alone prosecuted, inherently such insular communities have similar social structures to the one widely exposed among the FDLS cult of Warren Jeffs, whereby those of high social status are able to take advantage of the vulnerable with impunity so long as they don't do it too flagrantly and either attract outside attention or do it publicly in a way people cannot deny. If you have more than a couple hundred humans you'll have at least one psychopath and a few pedophiles. Unfortunately, they are hard to identify, and can often manipulate their way into positions of authority, unlike certain minorities that occur randomly in populations, so it's easier to target those who seem too different as scapegoats. We forget that these are the kinds of small, insular communities that, just a few centuries ago (in some cases, a few decades or less) were known for their pogroms and witch-burnings. Were it not for the negative attention such things would draw from the outside world, it would still be the case (still is in many less-connected corners of the world). The fantasy of such a place is nice. The reality, not so much.

That's because even though Russia is a capitalist country this and some other regions there have a lot of autonomy and people kept their traditional ways. These people live unalienated lives, they're deeply immersed in their environment and in what they do. They can see and feel the result of their work, unlike most of us huge capitalist centre dwellers who only see fake richness (huge office towers, shopping malls, gigantic highway systems, consumerism, generic pop culture) they get real richness (a close knit community, family, tradition, culture, spirituality _not the same as religiousness_, good health, useful and great skills etc.)

Such a beautiful culture with such hard working people. I saw someone else say seeing this life makes them yearn for something else, and I completely agree. There is something about seeing such a beautiful community and how wonderful the people are and how close the families are. It makes the life we have, the 98% of us being glued to our phones, seem lazy and unfulfilling.
@seia27582 ай бұрын
Because our ancestors have been living this way for thousands of years - hunting, foraging, socializing, building a community, raising children to be hardworking so the next generation will survive. Technology, industrialization and colonization destroyed everything "human" about us. We're no longer humans, we're more like robots doing mundane tasks over and over until we keel over and die. Meanwhile, these people live almost primitively with only a small community. For example, we as men, have this instinct to protect, to hunt, to forage and to conquer. It is in-built into our DNA. But we can't even "live off the land" nowadays due to slave labor. Now we have to work 9-11 hours at an establishment to put food on our table while these people can still eat for free by going outside and hunting fresh catches of food. That's the difference, because Yakutian people can still "live off the land" while we can't.

It’s absolutely beautiful. I don’t think I could do it. I’ve lived in the desert all my life. Here in Arizona (USA) we have very hot summers, they average 115• to 117• F. But it’s only really hot for 4 to 5 months. The rest of the year it’s beautiful. Nov to Feb it gets cold in the mornings, as low as 30• F. Well cold for us, especially coming off 115• summer weather. But by noon we are usually in the 70’s F. I guess like anywhere you adapt and just get use to the climate you live in. The families are all so loving and the children so respectful and helpful. These people are definitely doing life right!!

Thank you for giving us the gift of seeing how people live in other parts of the world. I think it is wonderful the sense of community that still exist in some parts of the world and makes me realize how much we take for granted. What a beautiful family and I admired them for teaching their young one early in life how to carry his own weight and work as a team.

A part of me almost feels cheated out of the qualities these people are teaching their kids. I grew up lazy, I was never asked to do any chores, watched a lot of TV and just played outside with friends. This also meant I've grown into a fairly lazy adult, who can barely cook a meal without a microwave or airfryer. Arian however has already learned how to work hard, think of others and how to help his family, plus all the tools to be self sufficient. What a beautiful way of living and a beautiful family

Yeah well I was raised like Arian was, except we had -30C degrees instead of -50C. Still lazy as an adult. Although yes, I can cook and if I had to, I could still not just survive but thrive in ass cold with no indoors plumbing and living off salted pork, potatoes and canned autumn goods. You have to understand that this life isn't blissful. It's hard, backbreaking work. If you asked me if I wanted to go back to all of that, no, I don't. Because it was hard, it was cold, and you just coped with it. It had beauty in it, all that hard work and respecting nature, but you also had to respect nature when your sister died at 4 years old because she fell through the ice and froze to death.

Anybody else watching this battling depression and anxiety and thinking “it’s so cold there you really only think of and take care of things that really matter… it seems so much simpler”. Solid shelter, food, family, live.
@Alex-sr3ezАй бұрын
Yes. I battle with low grade but persistent depression (very traumatic childhood). I too find the idea of this lifestyle comforting. In fact, I’m planning on buying some acreage in South Dakota and building a small log cabin on it. I’ll use solar panels and lithium batteries to power it, a rain catchment system for water, and a lot belly stove for heat. After 24 years in the AF traveling all over the world and living in the big cities most of my life, I’m so driven to live quietly and simply. I truly don’t believe humans were meant to be so overstimulated as we are today.
