I am so happy for you. I am quitting my first job out of college next week. I may also start a job in Beijing and I am hoping everything will work out just fine for me as well. I will miss the States but I am also excited (but afraid) about the change..

Absolutely adore your style of videos. I love how real you are with your emotions of moving forward with your life. I'm veryyy scared of changes and i feel its the main reason why I'm not in a place in life where I can be fully happy so for me your videos are very inspiring. Also your channel not being big makes your messages more personal (dont know if it makes sense). So I hope your move to Beijing only bring good things into your life

I'm scare of changes too...but after all the changes forced upon me in 2020, I learned that even though letting go of the fear is the hardest things everrr, I feel a little bit more free once I let go a little bit of fear, one step at a time. Thanks for stopping by and for sharing your feelings - you will find your happy place, I'm sure of it:)

I lived in Beijing for 10 years. One advice, you would better not to drink the water directly, even you have boiled it. The water condition is really bad in many places of Beijing, I often see some white floating stuff after heating the water. I would suggest you filter it before the heating, though I only take the bottom of water.
@tapiocapress3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for the tip!! Yeah the water quality doesn't seem too great...I try to buy drinking water separately🤪

And some interest part you may not found. If you are living in Haidian, then I would recommend the swimming pool in People's University, it is a nice 50 meters pool, with a cheaper price and they accept the non-students. And also there is an English corner inside People's University's east door, It would open at each Friday night like after 6pm or 7pm. It has been there for many years, with a lot Chinese English speaker and expats around. You may make some new friends there:)

Ahh thank you! I really wanna check it out😃

Well, one correction, the English corner is in east door of People's University. it is very famous, ask some students if you cannot find it.

My landlord found the testers for me, but if you go on 58.com and search for 测甲醛 there should be plenty of options - just make sure to pick one with lots of good reviews 👍🏼

Hey Evelyn, new sub here and I'm so happy to have found your channel! Thanks for documenting your life in Beijing. Through watching your videos, I've come to take an interest in potentially starting a career in China (non-teaching). How hard is it for Asian Americans to land a job in China and where would I be able to look for these types of jobs?
@tapiocapress3 жыл бұрын
Hey hey! So glad you are interested in potentially starting a career in China! I'm a Chinese citizen so not quite sure how hard it would be for Asian Americans - lemme ask around for you and get back! Personally I've never had to write a Chinese resume to land interviews, and I've seen many opportunities in China where English would be the working language, so they would appreciate people with Asian and western backgrounds (for example: tech project/product manager). The website I use to look for jobs is called Boss直聘. Hope this helps!
