Lol you can pop start a car once it has stalled but you still need the ignition turned to start a car. Unless the ignition barrel is fucked and the keys can come out whilst the barrel is still turned to the starting position. Plus Ian was talking about an automatic the whole time "whilst it's in drive" doesn't apply to stick shift 😂

She explained it confusingly. Even a stick shift car in gear can't keep gliding along when the ignition is turned off unless the clutch is pushed in the whole time. Most people trying to coast and conserve gas or coast as far as possible after running out of gas, would just put it in neutral. You'd also lose any power steering and braking wouldn't be as good after the ignition was turned off. And that's for stick or auto. But to coast in automatic you have to be in neutral if ignition is turned off. And as you mentioned, to pop the clutch to restart a car while coasting, the ignition would need to be turned on/forward in order for it to start.

I had three car wrecks in the military. The first one involved a range rover that flipped 3 times and it took 6-8 months for the first one to get exacerbated by the other 3. I was privileged enough to get 80% medical disabled for the rest of my life since it was my back/headaches.... 2ndly - all cars not having power steering is not created equal...I love how Ali calls out Jordan on the car thing - she made up a big part of the story and then tried to reverse engineer to a level where her houseeee(which was the original statement) deconstructed all of the way back to the end of the bridge STILL in NYC traffic - I caught the Ali "Dead Dad" joke which was hilarious...!
