Something to be said about voting here in the USA: Even *IF* there’s a chance that your vote won’t “matter” (which, the meaning of mattering here can be debated, but for this context we can say it’s referring to your preferred candidate winning) there is also always a chance that it could!! As a SC citizen I’ve often felt discouraged when voting (I turned 18 in 2019 🙃), and it can be mentally tiring honestly. But if those of us who support progression towards a more equal US just stop showing up, we are handing over wins just like Julia said. Little bit of a ramble rant here, doubt many people will see it lmao but I wanted to share 🩷

@sarahtheviking39936 ай бұрын
I realize this may not be remotely visible to the person asking about gender-neutral alternatives to Aunt and Uncle, but I have a suggestion for you regardless! Nordic language traditions use a "[which parent][relationship to that parent]" honorific naming convention - ie, your maternal grandfather would be called MorFar, and conversely your paternal grandmother would be FarMor. But! I also know that -ven is used as a suffix meaning "__'s friend", and -kinn or -kind is more of a general " __'s kin/family" suffix. So you could use MorVen /FarVen (but tbh I would use those for like, my kids calling my ultra close, basically family college friends who also have kids), or MorKinn / FarKinn Congrats on the new nibling!
