And I wouldn’t in the least call holing up for months on end and ignoring her children and the world for her “job” as strong. Many women having an 8 hour job and are the cooks and maids of their house while tending well for their family and not complaining. That’s what strong is. Someone on here asked why people are angry. People are angry because the channel markets itself as a 'Film Companion.' So the videos are naturally expected to revolve around films and their experience. But its clear that lately it's become something of a platform for relatively non-film people to market their latest products. A prime example is Shweta Bachchan Nanda; she had an interview on here recently to promote her book. A Book! It was basically to tout her venture into authorship. She's had literally NOTHING to do with films whatsoever - never acted in any movies, directed or produced them. If she were anyone else other than Amitabh Bachchan's daughter, she would have no business being interviewed. But it's solely because of that connection that she is. So when Film Companion allows this to happen, it's pretty clear that there is a 'networking' and 'nepotistic' vibe involved, and that Anupama is willing to compromise the integrity of what the Channel stands for, for the sake of promoting someone with social prestige. It just makes her lose credibility and respect with her audience. Someone like Rajeev Masand hasn't (and hopefully won't) interview someone like Shweta because it is entirely out of the scope of his movie theme - so he still commands that integrity. Take the other two 'out of place' interviews on here recently - Shilpa Shetty and now Twinkle Khanna. Yes both have acted before, but neither are relevant in the film scene now and have outright stated that they are here to promote either their books or tv shows, etc. Shilpa was promoting her Dating reality-tv show and Twinkle, her book. It is not the same as interviewing some old-time film legend who just wants to talk about their acting experience. Here there is a very clear promotional intent that's not lost on the audience, and it's a little insulting when it's done so overtly yet dismissively to the purpose of the channel. It's true that as content head, Anupama can do what she wants and doesn't have to listen to any of us, but when she is a certified critic and is expected to have a certain standard to her channel, deviating from that makes people question her credibility. If Anupama wants to do non-film celebrity interviews for their own sake, she can at least create a separate channel (or subchannel) for that intent. But undermining the purpose of this channel hurts her credibility and insults the audience both.

Very nicely put. I agree completely with everything that you said. Film companion first built its credibility through good, interesting and fresh content and now they're taking their viewers for a ride. She interviewed these three non-film women, it could easily have been a mini series of 'authors from bollywood' sort of a thing and it wouldn't be as disappointing!
@blraus6 жыл бұрын
Very well put! Even Anupama (if she has integrity) cannot disagree with this. When Twinkle says, "I need a wife" who will take care of the other tasks so that I can excel is so hard hitting. I think as women we need to realize we can break away from this by choosing men that will support us and not accept this as our fate. Men, especially in India, do need to realize marriage is a partnership while women need to allow men to grow in the domestic sphere and demand that from them as well.

She took so many film opportunities away from a more deserving actress. She then settled with a well-known womaniser whose criteria for marriage is that the actress has to quit working! Twinkle was a flop anyway, so she decided to go with the easy option to hook that playboy. Why idolise such people?

Humor is defence mechanism. I wish she acknowledged that rather than saying I was Humoring myself to avoid being depressed. They are not mutually exclusive.

It's not about that. She said that she wasn't interested in movies and was just kind of pushed to do them (maybe by Dimple). So she took those opportunities away from a more deserving actress who would have probably done a better job and who had passion for acting. That is the issue!

Hi, i condemn this, i came here to watch and learn about cinema. Sadly, this has become a platform for star wifes/ past actresses to flaunt their glamourous lives. Bravo!!!

Along with complaining , unsubscribe. I did the same. This is the only way channels learn not to take their subscribers for granted. Not to treat them like shit. I did the same to AIB and TVF after the sexual harassment charges that came out and was confirmed. But the organization did nothing to administer justice legally or otherwise. This is the only way to be heard.

Outrage! outrage! outrage! it's a platform where there is option to click on the video, you do know twinkle is not an actress or a film critic. She is a former actress and a highest selling book author, so it's not hard to understand what the premise of this conservation was going to be. But more outrage!!!!
@ishaanjolly10456 жыл бұрын
AKSHIT GUPTA hey Akshit, great my comment is an outrage to how the conversations Film Companion in bringing in. Of course i understand the premise, as you suggested that Twinkle is a best selling author, and has been an actor. But, insofar as the community created by Film Companion goes, which is people who seek conversation about cinema/ different perspectives on it. I find this as a limiting attribute of the channel. With regards to when my viewership as an individual is concerned and i am told “you should not click on a video”, i don’t think this is a random pop up that comes, and you have to click this out. In fact, i pose it as a challenge to my opinions(as a subscriber) that i cant hold any opinions as they will be labelled as outrage. This is not only derogatory to thousands of other viewers, but a proper withholding of my rights to dissent on popular opinion.
@sandykhp6 жыл бұрын
Ishaan Jolly What people dont understand is until u consume the entire content your cant form a responsible opinion about it. Also subscribers of a channel are stake holders. These channels show these numbers to prospective sponsors to show them that they have a strong consumer base. If the subscribers dont speak up on how a content makes them feel than who will. Some folks are just allergic to contrary opinion , criticism of any kind. Which is why they come with bs like why dont u just shut your eyes , ears if you dont like something. These are the people who throws words like troll , hater , always negative , cynic etc etc willy nilly.
@sandykhp6 жыл бұрын
Look through the entire comment section. How this video made people feel is clear. If so many feel the same way there is some truth , merit to their opinions right ?? Or are they all trolls and haters ?

Love your interviews and work! Dont get bogged down by all the hate comments. Maybe people expect more from FC, that is why the hate though it is not justified in a way. Keep going. Cheers FC. Mam we love and seriously want to see akshay sir in only huge blockbusters hits and the magic he creates with his persona in his movies is only he can, and i m a huge fan since I was a child and the only Hero in the industry who is working from so many years and have that tremendous energy, the discipline, fan following, which no other actor have and we want akshay sir spread his love more to the entire world and continue his journey and be loved more by the audience by giving such huge blockbusters hits. Its my dream to see akshay sir huge blockbusters hits coz their are plenty of amazing actors who can make a specific genre movies based on realistic issues which akshay sir is being working on from so many years now, and Akshay Sir should be making more movies like rowdy rathore, suryavanshi which are super energetic entertaining and inspiring that how to be true to your nation. And gonna be such an exciting experience only be possible by Akshay sir. Coz seeing akshay sir in such movies is such an wonderful experience which we might often see very few due to his busy schedule and working on different projects which are still amazing but seriously doesn't meet with sir stardom. It will be amazing If our dream comes true and see akshay sir in only huge blockbusters hits then it's seriously worth waiting for akshay sir movies. Instead of 3 to 4 movies a year if we get Akshay sir only 1 movie a year it's gonna be such a good experience which the whole youth is craving for. We really love you akshay sir and hope our dream come true.

Two women complaining about how difficult life is to tell your cook what should be cooked for dinner. Even top celebrities here in the US cook their own food, paint their own house, do most of the household chores all while managing an amazing career. Please save these kinds of talks for your private dinners don't put it on a social platform where some of the viewers can't even afford a proper healthy meal.

@lrs16756 жыл бұрын
Who said there is a problem in hiring a cook?. They can even have a pet tiger. But complaining about what to tell the cook for food sounds very entitled. FYI many well-spoken celebrities around the world who do their own things have enough money to hire some help but they still do it themselves or in some cases, they do have some help but they don't talk in a public interview on how difficult is it to train their nanny to take care of their kids.
