@@dpclerks09that’s a good analysis and probably mostly true but come on, just because you’re not ‘creating’ doesn’t mean you’re unqualified to make critical judgment, constructive or otherwise. Professional critics aren’t talented hence why they’ve become critics. The act of listening and interpreting art as objectively as you can is a skill in of itself. I personally really like this song but I can also see the rut that we’re in in terms of the the perpetual ‘retro’ output of most music now, nostalgia music, whether it’s analogue synths, garage rock guitar or post punk, we can’t get away for our longing for a time many of these artists weren’t even born in. Is there anything that really sounds like the ‘future’ in the same way that Kraftwerk sounded like the future back in the 70s? I don’t think there is, I think we’ve all become very content in our nostalgia universe, me included.

@@TheLunarnotes If you re-read my initial reply, you'll see that I made zero mention of anyone being "unqualified" to make judgments. I get your point about the "retro-rut" but I think that's more an issue of needing to broaden your horizons, musically speaking (i.e. your self-admitted contentment in your nostalgia universe). There's plenty of "future music" out there, just like anything else, you gotta dig for it. You are highly unlikely to find it by browsing spotify or your YT algorithm. Kraftwerk sounded futuristic because they utilized "new" technology (synths, etc.) at the time. The majority of musicians are not using "state of the art" instruments/technology (unless you look into electronic/pop/experimental related realms) so the new frontiers of music in the future are likely to be within the production and arrangement arenas of music making.
