I suggest you take a look at the synagogue in Garnethill in Glasgow. I was there a few months ago. It attracts lots of visitors.

Hello @trudigoodman4825 I am also from Massachusetts: north shore area. I am not Jewish but I firmly stand with the Jewish people and the Jewish state. Massachusetts is very tough for Jews, and I watch the hate marches and encampments with horror. I just wanted to reach out and let you know that even in our state, Jewish people are not alone. There are those, like me, living here who are not giving into the anti-semitism that we are bombarded with. Aim Israel Chai! God bless you.

wonderful documentary! I have truly enjoyed it. I am Scottish, i was dragged to the USA as a child , where when i met Jews i realised that i have Jewish Heritage. I have strong non Christian and Post Christian beliefs and time has revealed these beliefs as Jewish though non-religious based on truth justice and righteousness. There is many similarities with Scots. I believed in Mitzvot before i knew the word for it. The more I search myself I come to my Jewish but non-dogmatic centre. and i find a peace. I found peace in grieving my mother with quietly doing 'my thing' i recited my own non gendered Kaddish and did mitzvot which made sense to me to reach out of myself my grief and to connect with other humans with my acts of kindness. In pain of grief we can only heal with sharing kindness. And I continue to embrace mitzvot . It makes us human.

Being jewish means so many things for so many people. I'm glad to see so many representations, and discover their culture, history, and identity alongside them.

I married a Scottish Jew. His mother hid the fact that he was Jewish from him because of the Holocaust (he was born in 1935) and because his stepfather hated the Jews and threatened to beat his mother if he told the boy who his real father was. His clan was McIsaac, I researched the history of the McIsaacs and found that they were indeed Jewish, Danites who emigrated to Ireland in the 6th Century (fleeing persecution?) Over the next 500 years, they worked their way through the Hebrides until they arrived in the Scottish Highlands, Mull of Kintyre, Argyll and the McDonald Clan Lands. Those who settled among the McDonalds consider themselves to be McDonalds, those who settled among the Campbells consider themselves Campbells and the Irish McIsaacs consider themselves to be Irish. The McIsaacs gave up their Hebrew Language and Culture when they arrived in Ireland and converted to Christianity, but they became merchants, fishermen, cowherds and shepherds, and God continued to bless them in these trades. It took me a bit of digging to uncover all this history. Most of the McIsaacs still deny their Jewish heritage, but the truth is they are indeed the Sons and Daughters of Dan, the son of Jacob and therefore, they are Jewish. My husband was born in Campbeltown, Argyll, his ancestral land, but when he was about three years old, in 1939, his mother moved him to Maryhill, in Glasgow. As an adult, he worked for the Glasgow Corporation and worked a lot in the Gorbals, painting people's council flats, but this was before he knew he was Jewish. He emigrated to Australia when he was 27 years old and he didn't find out he was Jewish until he was 46 years old. He was a Godly man, a very devout Christian who believed the Bible, including the Old Testament, and when his mother told him who his father was and the circumstances of those events, he cried. He said he always knew and when he found out, it drew him closer to Heavenly Father and the Messiah, Jesus (Yehoshua, God our Savior). Before he knew he was Jewish, he went to Bible College and became a pastor, he then opened a Mission to the Poor in Melbourne, where over a period of 10 years, he helped over 50,000 of the poorest of the poor, including gangsters, drug addicts, homeless people, alcoholics and so on. "Ho, ye who have no money, come, buy and eat, without money and without price!" kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3qpZYBjfdefpKs God Bless You All!

Your husband had his Jewish ways whether he knew it or not consciously. He was charitable and giving. Two of the strongest beliefs and precepts in Judaism. Take care. The thing is that HaShem(G-d)loves us all. HaShem does not discriminate. Sadly, people do. Have a good holiday season. Take care.

@@trudigoodman4825 The Almighty One does indeed love all the people of the World, so much that it makes him weep! "For G-d so loved the World, that He gave his only Begotten Son, (Moshiach), that whosoever believeth in Him might not perish, but have Eternal Life!" This is a Christian saying and is the Promise of the Moshiach to them. Every Christian knows this saying and they all hold it dear in their hearts. Also, Isaiah Chapter 50. And Paul, who was a Benjamite, a Pharisee and a Disciple of the famous Hebrew Scholar Gamaliel, once said, "If the Jews being cut off (persecuted) provided an opportunity for the Gentiles (to know HaShem), what will their grafting back in be, but Life from the Dead?" (referencing the Prophecy of the Dry Bones and the Prophecy of the Broken Rods). He also often quoted the prophecies of Isaiah regarding Moshiach being a Light to the Gentiles etc, and the other Pharisees hated him for it, they betrayed him, falsely accused him and would have stoned him, but he appealed to Caesar (because he was also a Roman Citizen) and so was sent to Rome to have his case heard. Unfortunately, the Caesar that he put his case to was Nero, and when he heard that this Jew had sided with the Christians, he had him executed! I was born a Gentile, although I have a lot of Jewish ancestors because my father's family were City of London Bankers (surnames such as Blacker, Stearne (Stein), etc). And of course, I married a Jew. Because of this, I can see what is going on in both Worlds (the Jewish World and the Gentile World). Since WWII, many of the Gentiles are either becoming atheists or turning back to their ancient pagan gods, while the Jews, from the time of the Holocaust on, have been turning their hearts to the Promise of the Moshiach! It is sad that the Gentiles are returning to their idolatry, but you can't explain it to them, that this is Spiritual Doom! But it is tremendously exciting to see the Temple and its Furniture being prefabricated, the Red Heifers being born and even all these wars, even the Gaza situation, (Psalm 83, and Rachel Weeping for her Children, Because They Are Not!), it is all prophesied in the Tanach and it is all being fulfilled, NOW!!! So, although it is sad and even frightening, it is leading to the Coming of Moshiach and the long-prophesied Doom of the Pagan Kings of the Earth, and this is indeed a Good Thing! HaShem Bless You and Keep You, HaShem make His Face to Shine Upon You, And be Gracious to You, HaShem turn His Face Toward You, And Give You Peace! Amen!

Great video. You rarely see docs like this focused on the Jews of Scotland compared to the communities of Manchester & London. Maybe the Scottish obsession regarding sectarianism between the Protestant & Catholic communities overshadows the history of Scottish Jewish culture, religion and people.🔯

Sectarianism. Tell me, who was the first Jewish lord and what he was knighted for? Who founded the First orange Lodge in America, an institution based solely on the hatred of catholics. Every July I've got to put up with the orange order marching past my house, singing songs calling for my death. They wave that Israeli flag because the zionists always supported the protestants. That's facts. I was stabbed a few years back, for being Catholic. Let's talk about the part that Jewish lord played in that. Seems someone knows nothing about sectarianism in Scotland.
