How know when you are being needy and approval seeking, versus knowing your worth & standing up for yourself.
In this video coaching newsletter I discuss an email from a viewer whose girlfriend becomes very flirtatious with other men when she drinks. He notices that she is active on her phone, but ignores his messages and leaves him hanging on read before eventually replying. This causes him to become fearful and worry about her and what she is doing when he is not around. He wants to know where the line is between being needy and knowing your worth and standing up for yourself.
“When it comes to dating and worrying about whether or not your significant other is being faithful and trustworthy when you are not around, the only thing you have control over is your own actions and how you are showing up. You can be the best boyfriend or husband, but if you are in a relationship with someone who does not value loyalty, communication, commitment and trust, they most likely will solicit, encourage and entertain attention from other men when things are not going well or their attraction has dropped. Good women will seek to make the relationship better and work harder to connect. Women who belong to the streets will seek attention and validation outside of the relationship when they are bored, unhappy or have lost interest instead of doing what’s required to make their relationship better. That is why you date before agreeing to a commitment. So you can know what the person is really like after they feel comfortable, have spent a lot of time with you and they let their guard down. It’s not your job to fix or save anyone, but to determine if they are a good quality romantic prospect who will honor their commitments to you.” ~ Coach Corey Wayne

In a previous relationship I was going through some serious mental/emotional health issues. I told my ex about it, she said she'd be there to support me "no matter what"...until she wasn't. Even though she was the one to start backing away, I was the one to put an actual end to the relationship and I walked away. It was then that I started to know my worth.

this is basically exactly how mine ended a couple months ago. i loved her intensely, and she SAID she loved me the same way, but she wasn't giving me the respect i deserved so i ended it. she didn't even try to prevent me from leaving. i suspect she was already cheating on me. sucks for her - i have big plans for my future

That all happens when we think so far and think of having a long feature with her. Thats when we sometimes overlove her overpersue her and things start to go sideways. I also lost my baby girl after 1yr relationship just because I overloved her. I never set my boundaries, even when she was rude, i made her love in return. Ik that's all my mistake, but I learnt now. it was very hard to move on but it is what it is in the present , i don't have her and that's the fact i have to accepted. Just have fun and move with the flow.

This topic is meant for me. My girl, "good relationship with Dad" he was a cheater, many gfs. Mom cheated as well. He owned a bar. My gf drank at a young age, cheated on all of her guys, even cheated with me, which is a no-no, but she is hot! After 6 months she couldn't help herself and lied to hang out with guys. She apologized and we went on our way. 5 months later she lied and went to her exes house. Caught her then too. Now we are done. They can be nice and sweet but don't ignore it when they show you exactly who they are. No matter how much they love bomb you.

I dated someone who I cared about very much. Was with him for 4 years. He would say the same about me. However it wasn’t true. We would be at the gym and if I even looked another way. He would be like “ oh there u go checking out some dude. One time I looked over and there was only an oriental woman next to me. I’m like “ oh now I like woman. . Needless to say I finally walked away & never looked back. It broke my heart. I was faithful since day 1. Never had any interest in anyone else. I know what healthy relationships look like. My parents were married 60 yrs and adored each other right up until his death a few months ago. My ex was a very good looking man, but so insecure. There’s no fixing that. That comes from within. .. Btw Great content.

Majority of people don't come from a balanced family, it doesn't exist. What matters is the maturity of the person, the work they've done on themselves and how they treat other people. Someone could come from the best family, but could still treat people terribly.

Hey coach Corey, what about when you know her background is terrible and you know she was for the streets. For a fact.. but she is honest about it and says, “ Hey, I was “out here” living like that because I gave up.” Until you came along.... we both come from the street life and I did a 180 so I think I’m more wheeling to give the benefit of the doubt. My concern is this: She stopped everything to my knowledge. All the way down to getting a job. Never hides her phone.. nothing. But I just find it hard to believe that it’s that simple. Can people really flip a switch like that???

I think what you are saying is that context matters when you look at someone’s family of origin. I’m of the camp of, don’t punish the son for the fathers sins. You can judge someone like oh why don’t they have a good relationship with their parents? Yet, not know they choose to cut them off to protect themselves or distanced the relationship due to emotional abuse or the therapy they have done. That being said, even if you have a good relationship with your parents, sometimes the morals of the person is still trash. It’s better to look at relational history/patterns to predict. Family of origin can explain/predict, but it is not a definite outcome either.

13:32 it’s not loving to be emotionally unavailable/neglectful due to work or whatever reason. Then say she belongs to the streets. Men really need to do better, we all would benefit greatly if our emotional needs were met, considered or even acknowledged. There’s a difference between needy and being emotionally neglected or abandoned.
