The plaintiff hired the defendant to sing in a show he was producing. However, the defendant backed out of the show last minute, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant admits she agreed to perform, but she realized there would be no record labels or producers at the show, so she backed out. The defendant is countersuing for slander.

To those commenting about JM's being unsure of who Freddie Jackson was: Have you ever thought that maybe she doesn't listen to or enjoy the same music as those who HAVE heard of him? Not everyone's gonna know certain celebs. People don't engage in the exact same media as everyone else. Not everyone has access to or enjoys RNB, just like not everyone likes rap, rock, or hip hop. Some prefer classical, others prefer modern music, and others still prefer J-pop or international music. It's all in taste and I can see JM not knowing who he is - just like I don't think I did either.
