This video was such a light and blessing to my soul, as a charistmatic Evangelical Protestant convert to Orthodoxy. Thank you both Hank and Fr. Barnabas for sharing your wisdom and grace with us for the nourishment of the Church!!

Im born into Orthodoxy and hearing Hank speak about it the way he does is intresting because im learning things about Orthodoxy that i never knew yet i was baptised at 6 months of age and unfortunately until recently i was sinning way too much and wasnt following Gods way and i still need much improving. Ive noticed many people are irritated with Hank following the Orthodox way but i say this man is one of if not the best bible scholar in this country and he wouldnt have made the decision just like yeah i might just change denominations today for the sake of it. At the end of the day whatever denomination we are we all have the same aim in life to reach heaven denominations of Christianity are like roads that lead to a particular place if we choose to take the longer road or more bumpy or rough its our choice people should not judge. They are judging Hank on something he has chose im sure Jesus wouldn't be pleased with those types of Christians.

That part at the end about being grateful for any past denomination that helped you find your way was beautiful.

This was excellent and very much needed by me. After 20 years as a "Jehovah's Witness" followed by 6 years as a Calvinist, I was feeling somewhat bitter. I am grateful for the words of wisdom from Fr. Barnabas Powell in this podcast. Thank you for your work.

The physical cannot be separated from spiritual. This is also why Orthodox Christians stand in Liturgy. The opening of the Liturgy is, “Blessed is the Kingdom”. We STAND before the throne and judgement seat. The King and Judge SIT. The subject stands before the King. Physically feeling the weariness as we stand in prayer, reminds us of our mortality, and subjugation before the King.

To anyone thinking of converting, look for "Finding the church that Jesus built 101"on YT; this series of videos was shot like back in 2001 and are not in order, figure out which ones are the first two and check them out, it's a great way to begin your journey 👍

Great interview. I am Orthodox, but one thing I have issue with is the Veganism. Fasting is very good, but the diet is very unhealthy. I fast, but not Vegan.

I am currently considering the Orthodox faith. I eat a nutrient dense, nose to tail, carnivore diet for health reasons. When we fast at our house, we ingest only water and black coffee. Bone broth with salt if needed. I am currently working out our fasting schedule.... very complex!, yet doable!

When Daniel in the Bible ate vegan, it sure didn't prove to be unhealthy for him.

its not 1,000 year reign its forever "of His kingdom there shall be no end" the Creed says after it says "He will come again to judge the living and the dead" the repudiated chiliasm was LIMITING Jesus reign not that it would happen at all.

If Hank had to find himself by leaving the main stream evangelical , then maybe just maybe he hasn"t really found the Lord , because Eastern Orthodox isn"t the" true Church", like they claim, the true Church or the true believers are found everywhere, throughout the whole world even in the dead church of Sardis there were true believers who the Lord commended for not having defiled their garments . Hank ?

Ratings ?now a measure of spirituality, ?I know i"m not much , but I do know that there is no such thing as "a Bible answer man" like he seems to think , and others , no man is immune from self importance ,self aggrandisement .

Hank you need to return to when you admitted " WE WERE WRONG" You are missing God's eternal economy! Its not about which religion!
@3n1974 жыл бұрын
JESUS was saying you shouldn't call or regard anyone superior as a spritual leader..THis came about because of the pharisees who were taking religious leadership roles overt the people just like the priest and Pope and mess do today....We are to be lead by the Holy Spirit not a rabbi or Father...YOU should not be called father in a spiritual sense...Yes call no one teacher or master in regards to spiritual leadership...These guys are not born again,...The father needed a group or church to help him, when you are born again you are changed and led into pray without ceasing by the Holy Spirit otherwise its all about human effort and trying to be a religious person out of your flesh...We are to be led by the SPIRIT....Hank is not born again....

As a Protestant, I find it impossible to believe that the oldest Christian Church by far -- which dates back to Pentecost -- was so wrong that it took approx. 1,500 years for the Reformers to come along and put them straight. Reason enough for me to check out Orthodox Christianity.

@@Troy-Moses Thank you. I actually became a Catholic since I wrote that comment, partly because I believe the Catholic Church is the oldest, though I know Orthodox Christians don't agree, and partly because of the Eucharist, which I know Orthodox Christians do agree with.
