It also pretty much makes them undeployable, unless there are multiple layers in place to ensure the child can be taken care of while they are away. There has to be several backup plans in the event the primary care taker the child is left with is no longer able to care for them. It isn't difficult for them to just say, well, no one can take on that responsibility. We won't even get into the light duty they are basically on for the rest of their contract.
