When I was in my early 20s I lived across the street from a laundry mat where I dropped off my laundry every week to get done. One day, I took out $400 to give to my roommate for my share of the rent. I went home that night after stopping at the bank, gathered my clothes and took off what I had on, then dropped my laundry off. The next day I pick it up in the morning and that night my roommate asks me for the rent money. I then realized I never took it out of the pants I was wearing and it went into the laundry I dropped off. I tore the bag opened and found the pants but the money was gone. I went to the laundry mat and asked if they found it and of course they said no. I had no other way to prove otherwise so I was out $400. Sometimes, we as humans are careless and we get stuck in shitty scenarios. I believe they took the money cause they knew she couldn't prove it, but I would've cut my losses and moved on.
