As a dad of 4 in my mid 30s I can relate to your story but also understand it changes once you have kids it's not just about me having fun and beeing crazy it's about me making sure my kids have what they need and I can make it home to be there dad! Some of the crazy is in the past for a reason as much as we miss it!

Still got my dad at 51 ,he's 30yrs my senior and still gets it on. What I mean is he has a blast on his KTM rc390. He built an airplane hangar back around the late 90s. So around the late 00's I moved back to the area and we wrench and tinker on stuff pretty much every other evening there. At this point he's pretty much my best friend and I'd trade it for nothing.

The older I get the more I understand my dad, yet don't. He is and was a good dad, taught me the value of hard work, honesty, raised us on very little money- we did live in a cabin without indoor plumbing for awhile, I was six and didn't think anything of it. Yet I grew up a gear head and he was a carpenter and a professor and we just don't share the same values- he did all as cheap as possible, he a child of the depression, I will spend the money up front on better materials and tools "buy once, cry once" so I don't have to do it all over again!

Two things come to mind. #1 You Miss your Dad. #2 Families Change Men. Your Father Sounds Like He was a bit of a Loose Cannon. But he met your Mother and Fell in Love. Then Had You. Now Being Off the Hook when Ever he wanted took a Back Seat to the Needs of His Family! I Believe in His Own way He was Protecting You from His Crazy Former Self. I Know How that is Because I've done the Same. Setting an Example is Tough! You Can't just Throw Caution to the Wind and Risk your Life like you had No Responsibilities! Because Everything you Do and Say Imprints on your Kids. Kids Will try to Copy Dad! I feel your Dad Just Wanted to Protect You. Anyway right or wrong You seem to Be a Great Dad! Also I Turley Love this Channel and all the Hard Work you guys put in!

You're welcome buddy! Still think he didn't want to see you fall down the racing rabbit hole an depend on it for a living in a different way then you are now. Basically the same reason my dad stopped fishing bass tournaments. Honestly couldn't tell you how many him and my grandfather won through the years before me and after me and after my grandfather passed in 01. Fishing was cheaper then racing so that's why they both stuck with it. Anyways that's not important. Just show john there is more to life then just racing. Personally would've rather grew up going to races more then going to bass tournaments. Until I think back on it and look at it and thank both of them for showing me you can go have fun doing this stuff that there is more to it then just Fishing and or racing. Been around since the fearlessfront days. Don't agree with what went on in that situation yet stuff happens. The newer mini bike content has been great to watch. Makes a guy feel good knowing NR is on board with this 😎 I definitely see some bada** small blocks being built in the near future maybe even a little methanol. Keep up the good work and don't let anyone tell you you aren't a good person 👍

I think your dad was a good dad in the reason that he laid back to let you decide who you wanted to be. Some dad's push there kids to be them. Your dad didn't do you that way. You are who you are. He let you be you.God bless you and love your channel.

Cut yor dad some slack. You don't know what happened that caused that change! Racing means accidents too! Maybe he got hurt or someone else did. That tend to change people. Men in general don't like to burden others with their demons; he may have hid that part of his life because he didn't want reliving a traumatic event or remembering and was protecting you, not because he stopped being cool. Trauma changes people radically. The important part is tha you're doing your best to be the best dad you can be and that's what your son will always remember. Thanks for sharing and God bless.

I almost lost my life to street racing and very lucky I didn't. I have a kid now and wouldn't want him to experience that thrill because its addicting. A near death experience changes you in ways you can't describe. The fearless person is now gone and life takes on an entire different meaning

That's a Great story and glad you shared it! that said, My Dad use to drive like yours did and but in Michigan. Then he married my Mom, a sponser came and asked my Dad to drive the Sponsers car and he would get paid , I'm thinking it was $5000 just to finish, didn't have to win , just finish the race. My Mom was Preg with me at the time and she said she didn't think it was a good idea, yes they could have used the money back then but she had what my Dad called Calums about it and my Dad said He learned to listen to her about those. So He said no! Another guy drove the car and won for the sponser but the second time that guy drove he went over the enbankment and through the fence , out onto the road and hit Cement Truck.. He lived but as a Veg till he died. My dad was sorry for it anmd the other drivers wife was mad at my Dad ofr not driving instead. Thing your dad didn't tell you about things for his reasons. Mine didn't want me to drive hot rods I'm betting for the same!!! My Dad did't have me help a lot on cars as I grew up but when I got my first car i soon started to do my own repairs. I did't take oit far enough but I could work on mine and others with no prop! I Prise God for the Skills I learned and the People I helped through the years!!!

Travel on and enjoy the road ahead. Don't look back in the mirror because that's behind you. Just think you and the boys can make a racing team. Now, that would be cool. And all the memories that you leave behind. Peace ✌️

I think that every parent has life that is "secret" to their children. I have almost no stories about my father from before me being born, and like three from wuen he's been bachelor...

Sounds like he was domesticated by a woman and or had a close call and decided to hang it up before his luck ran out. Hard to say the man must have had his reasons. On the flip side, I don't think my dad was ever cool. Lol
