Chasing shadows means you’re running from the light. 🤔 I’m glad you addressed this topic. I often hear “first woman to break the sound barrier”(or something like that) and I think to myself “…because, as we all know, women are not capable of things like that…” it’s a rhetorical exercise to point out the bigotry of low expectations that the media perpetuates. Why can’t we celebrate the achievements of great humans without reducing those humans to a race or gender? It’s like producing an arbitrary subgroup of the population that shares a single physical characteristic and when one of them achieves something great, they all get to claim that person and say “this one’s ours!” And it’s as if we’re not all humans. It’s as if we’re not all thankful for the achievements of other humans. It’s as if we’re not all just trying to stay alive for as long as possible.
