did your roommate know? I head to college in a few years and my biggest fear is not knowing if I should tell my roommate. I'm scared if I end up telling them it will be a problem, but I'm even more scared that if I don't tell them they will figure out and that will be a problem. :(

i don’t think you have too much to worry about but make sure your college is lgbtq+ friendly because personally for me my roommate reached out introduced himself and we chatted this summer and it didnt occur to me that i should tell him but after a while i figured that he would probably find out if we’re going to be living together for a while so i told him and he was chill and still wanted to be roommates but keep in mind everyone is different and will probably have different reactions

i had a few roomates in college some knew some didnt. its up to you. i only feel the need to disclose if im looking to get intimate with a person or i consider them a good friend. sometimes i tell strangers so they dont go through life saying they never met a trans person, ive had "friends" i never told. youre free to do what you want whatever is comfortable.

Honestly I want to go to an hbcu but that makes me nervous with transitioning I want to join a fraternity but they may not let me join

It depends on what stage you're in. If you pass, then it's your choice whether you want to come out or not. It also depends on the frat, some do very harsh pledging processes that can get sexual so make sure you listen to what other people have said about that process.

Thank you. This was really helpful. I don't go to college for another couple years, but I can plan ahead. I'd like to start T once I turn 18 and get top surgery over winter break. Bottom surgery is kind of a complicated decision for me bc I wanna have kids with an alternative method.
