When I see old homesteads like this I often wonder about who had lived there and for how long. Was it a happy home? Was there many a Christmas spent with the family making decorations for the tree and then exchanging gifts in front of a warm and glowing fireplace? Were there many happy occasions to offset the inevitable sadness and death that the Good Lord asks us all to endure? If I were to drive by the place or was to walk up to it IRL I'd probably get a sense of the home's history. Events have a way of imprinting themselves onto their physical surroundings, and if you give sway to your inner psychic you should get a feel for them.
