In todays video, we take a look at what is involved with replacing the drum support rollers, in a Beko DCU7230W tumble dryer.
The steps detailed within the video, are not intended as an official guide, and are purely for entertainment purposes.
Symptoms of failing rollers, extreme amounts of noise, whilst the unit is in operation, lint will also collect inside the machine, in areas where it is not supposed to be.
You will need the following parts :-
www.bekospares...
2x Drum support Rollers.
Optional :-
www.bekospares...
I discovered that the mains suppressor on my dryer, was cracking. For continued safety, it is a good idea to replace this as soon as possible. Worth buying if your dryer is over five years old. Replacement will be covered in a future video.
Tools you may need :-
A comprehensive set of insulated screwdrivers
A 10mm socket and wrench
A sturdy bar, or, a sturdy block of wood

excellent video thanks for taking the time to put this together. Just for info: I replaced both rollers by lifting & prying the drum up and to the rear only having taken the top, rear and side covers off (rear could have stayed on too) which saved quite a bit of faffing around with the heater element and electrics but without your excellent video I'd likely have no idea on how to start Thank you.

do you think it’s possible to get the rollers out just by removing the top and sides then? there’s just enough room to get the old ones out and new ones in?
@wobblyrod779
@wobblyrod779 Жыл бұрын
@@jonn1000 yes, it's tight but with a wiggle and drum positioning it is doable.

@@wobblyrod779 Oh its doable, but what you'll need (as you'll know)is a good vocab of swear words as its tight, but easier than the op method , although, you do have to be quite forceful prying the drum up/backwards to remove the knackered bearing, plus this method doesn't mess with the felt gasket, that the guy had to relocate, just a pain these plastic bearings are so dear , love these vids though (well the good ones lol) full marks to the guy for doing it

Great video. I found a simple 10mm spanner did the job just fine rather than using a socket set, and I didn't need to disconnect quite so much of the wiring at the back (just the first blue and white connectors) as you only need to pull the drum back a few cm. Also - take a photo of every screw you take out. There are loads of them and it's really not that obvious which ones go where when you start piecing it all back together! Thanks for doing such a comprehensive step by step guide.

Thanks for commenting. Some good tips, there. I found that a spanner would’ve done the job, a little late into the process. I thought the nuts would’ve been tighter 😂. Great point about photographing each step of the way. It is one reason I produce these videos, mainly to help me on re-assembly. I take photos, as well. Essential, when you have about 5000 screws of different types!

Hi James great video and looking likely to be the problem I have on a similar machine DCU8230 but I noticed that on the part page along with the Drum rubber wheel roller there's also a Rear drum bearing and a drum wheel roller which seems to be all nylon in construction. Do you think I will require these as well? Didn't want to strip it all down first If I could help it. Also if I do how many of each would I require? Cheers in advance

I’ve just used this video to replace the rollers on my dryer as it had the exact same issue. The motor works fine but when I press the start button the drum doesn’t start to move, you can hear the motor working but it’s like something is not catching correctly - I can manually get the drum moving and the dryer will work but any suggestions as to why it doesn’t kick in or what might need adjusting would be appreciated. Thanks

If the motor is spinning, check the idler wheel and belt are attached, the idler has a small belt, then the drum belt attaches to the idler. Also check the front foam seal, these can get chewed up and stop the drum rotating. You can buy them new, and it is worth remiving the drum and checking the seals condition.

The capacitor will have gone, changed mine 18 months ago. Strip the right hand panel off as you look at and its the silver cylindrical block to the left of the motor. One bolt to secure it and a two cables to it. Hope this helps.

From what I can see, the construction of this dryer looks exactly like my Blomberg TKF 7451. That isn't surprising cause Blomberg is just another Beko brand. I will find out in the next few days if I'm able to change the wheels as well...

To answer my own comment: it was even easier because there was no heater mounted on the back of the chassis. Interesting how many variations of the same design are build by this manufacturer.

You don't need to undo the wires at the back, leave the heater connected and just unscrew the connecting block, this will then give you the slack to allow the heater to move. It doesn't need to go far, just take the screws out the back of the machine and you only need to move the drum a few cm. Certainly don't need to take off the wiring loom. I found the new rollers were catching the plastic inside the machine, as they were splayed out a bit more than the originals. Bit annoying as they are genuine Beko parts for this machine, but a washer or 2 to move the rollers back away from the supports was enough.

A good tip.....to be fair, I used my strip down as a chance to clear out all of the collected lint, however, had I know the above....I would've gone for the simpler approach.

Having done a similar repair (snapped idler belt) I would mention that there are a lot of sharp edges inside the Beko dryers, so take care not to cut yourself.
