From the political party statements on the Bela bill is that the bill has nothing to do with mother tongue education. Not a single one articulated how the bill was going to be used to develop mother tongue. The Bill does have a spirit about it but it’s not going to be used for that. There is no indication to suggest that it will be. The bill is not an educational break through which is a shame. I suspect we just going to transform a couple of schools into SADTU English. The bill could shift the needle but the racist implementation of the bill will ensure it doesn’t.
