Thank you enormously for expanding my horizon of "world music" and helping me to cultivate a deeper appreciation of Bartok's legacy.

Although it covers Bartok’s entire life, this documentary focuses more specifically on his musicological research in Turkey in 1936, focusing on the similarities between Turkish and Finno-Ugric folk music. Discussion of Bartok is interspersed with multiple contemporary performances of Turkish folk songs (without subtitles). Whether Bartok catalogued any of these songs is not made clear. You don’t hear much of Bartok’s music, but there are some nice performances of the Romanian Dances starting at 17:10. For hard-core fans of Bartok or Turkish folk music only.

I thought this focus was particularly fresh. I’d never heard about this connection before
