Thank you for putting these together. The passenger trains shown demonstrate just how badly the railways had been allowed to run down, and not given enough money to keep up to date

Terrific. What a wonderfully eclectic assortment of rolling stock at the start! Six and a half minutes of enjoyment - thanks for posting these rarities.

Thank you Graeme , this compliments part 1 & we're all forever in debt to the work that You & Phil have done over the years covering trains / railways in N.S.W. ; you've caught a lot of history over the years & I miss that era as I still recall standing just West of Seven Hill station in 1970 just behind the "old" shopping centre watching 3801 & 3813 passing by very quickly on their way to Perth when I was just 4 yrs old , how I wish that I could've taken heaps of film coverage back then as it would've been so much more for You Tube now.

As a mere Pom, I really enjoyed these memories of Aussie steam. Sad that most of these magnificent locomotives, and the men who crewed and maintained them, are now gone.

Love those round top 36 class. Crews preferred them to rebuilt 36s

In the Xmas holidays 1969, I was beside the down relief road at Cardif. A 50 class was crawling up with a mixed goods and a dead 40 class. It might have been the down pickup. The fireman was walking beside the left hand cylinder hitting it with a hammer. I have a photo somewhere. I presume he was hitting the front edge of the cap because the middle has sheetmetal and insulation. Does anyone know what the problem was?.

Yes, they would but, as these films were found (as said) and the cinematographer is unknown, we shall just have to be grateful that they exist. Most are estimable.

@@kentrobison588 no worries. Couldn't find anything that I could access fully but the gist of what I saw was it was an experiment. Looks like only one loco trialled but happy to be corrected. Probably wouldn't have been much use in reverse.
