My carbon arrows are tuned the same way (shooting at close range).. I get identical flight from my Howard Hill Wesley Special, 50 lbs. at my 28 inch draw as I get from my Savannah 45 lb. using the same arrow and a vintage Bear Grizzly 48 lbs. Gold Tips, 500 spine, cut at 30 and a half inches and 125 grain field tip. Bear's '59 Kodiak remake uses 30 and a half inch, 400 spine, 125 grain field tip. Interesting video...thanks

Thank you so much for this video. I have been trying paper tuning and the "eye test"/slow mo videos neither has really worked out for me especially with broadheads. This technique has really helped me get broadhead tuned for the hunting season.

It seems to me that if you get your tune correct for your normal draw if you short draw it or long draw it is still tuned…not sure if others have found this as well.

I met Jim & Georgia at our TBOF (Traditional Bowhunters of Florida) shoot in March and really enjoyed talking with them and shooting their Union Jack and Hill Jack ASL bows. I’m an ASL junkie and plan to order a 66” Hill Jack very close to your specs very soon. Great video

I have almost identical specs as you and tune pretty much exactly like you said, at least with my ASL. Most of my other bows I’m a bare shaftin’ fool, but with the ASL I find myself thinking outside the box a bit. Tuning rules still apply, but let’s just say those rules are bent quite a bit beyond what you’re “expecting”.

I took the same route you did when trying to bare shaft tune woods for my Dwyer longbow 40@28, 66". I started with 40-45 spine ended up using 50-55 spine, 125 tips. Great information keep up the good work. Any thoughts on keeping the bow vertical or cant the bow like you normal do when shooting when bare shaft tuning? Thanks

I would tune they way you shoot. So if you shoot canted do that when you tune. ASLs are sensitive to grip torque so just make sure you practice shooting multiple angles and not torquing the grip.
