Anderson's vocals are awesome on this song and yes his drumming is obviously great. He is singing in an higher range than usual and you have to listen closely when he and Bruno transfer to their parts. Their vocals compliment each other. Thank you for your reaction of appreciation for this great music! Go Silk Sonic.

This is such an incredible album, and this song takes me back to an era that is so good to visit. Just got back from a road trip, 45 hours on the road, and played this album so many times. Some times singing, sometimes just listening, always with a smile on my face. Hope you guys had a great start to the new year and thanks for the great reactions. The 3 part harmonies are everywhere on this track T cat, Anderson and Bruno nailed that for sure. Love this track and Put on a smile….this week. Still playing it start to finish, no skips. Brilliant🐨👏🏼🔥🔥🔥 I agree, this style, it’s been missing and I hope it inspires some of the younger up an coming to go there. Bruno, Anderson and everyone who contributed to this project were inspired…that’s why we are so lucky they’ve done such a (insert best word that compliments here) job. I need to see this live and I don’t care what the cost. 🤞🏼🙏🏻

Great reaction guys! It’s cool the things you can appreciate. With all that goes into this project, skill, talent & sound brilliance, one of the highs is the contrast of their voices, like other comment mentioned, complimenting each other. APaak talks about how Bruno pushed him vocally in the studio, & he definitely responded & brought it. We know Bruno is killer, but no one is outshined. Silk Sonic is the sum of all these cats = 🔥. This tune is a favorite, but Put On A Smile is life beyond Mars, like frickin Never Never land. These cats hittin on another level. Much of the industry will be holdin themselves, no doubt! Shout out to those who have held it down reppin the influence like Maxwell & Alicia, but these cats went bodily in, totally spent to completely immerse in the old school with their own flavor & skilled production. After awhile ain’t no more words.

Re: drum recording... I’ve had the same kind of attention to microphone placement on the three solo studio recordings I’ve made. I was playing a 9’ Hamburg Steinway and my engineer mic’d it with six Neumann’s! The recordings are worth listening to just to hear that Steinway! The recordings were comprised of single takes and despite a number of articulation errors, most of the material was passable. It’s a legacy project for my family and friends-I’ll be 80 this year. One set of pieces are called “Four Elegiac Songs In The Time Of Covid”. This set won 3rd Prize in the The American Prize competition-Pop/Light Music Division last year. I didn’t expect anything because I submitted just lead sheets and my performance recordings as my entry. Anyway, these were jazz ballads and that piano sound must have made the judges sit up and take notice! The award was a real surprise and I couldn’t be more grateful!

I was hearing the same thing. I didn’t want to say anything to anyone either. Junk in the box is what I heard but even though that was a SNL spoof the musical elements of that song were fantastic!
@tammiepeters65112 жыл бұрын
I immediately thought of SNL...especially at the end of the song. I can't believe this is the 1st reaction video that mentioned it.
@cheriparisedwards34682 жыл бұрын
@@tammiepeters6511 never heard of it and when I looked at it after reading the comments, he was clearly attempting to parody a period. Those chords come from BOOTSY, and groups like the Bar-Kays, Confunktion, Brainstorm & Lakeside and on and on, not Justin Timberlake. I have problems understanding the comment (which some seem to keep mentioning) because it seems to suggest that JT (who is sort of a "wannabe" R & B singer) is the creator of the sound. That's disrespectful.

Regarding drums on album:: Anderson does NOT play on cut #5 (Smokin' Out the Window) ~ ~ The drummer is Homer Steinweiss ~
@gregrios60442 жыл бұрын
YES! that's been my only small gripe on this song. I fucking love it. But damn it's get a little too loud at the end. What made it magical was how smooth and soft is started. And even when the beat picked up the way, Anderson used such a soft tone to hit that melody combined with brunos ad libs. But still. It's amazing.

I respectfully disagree. It's perfect. The world now is a better place.

Hey fellas! Ive always enjoyed your SS reactions! I've watched each one several times over. I've noticed something recently about this particular song. Other people I've talked to about this song (and other reactors) have pointed out that there are classic funk songs that this track reminds them of. However, they couldn't pinpoint which one(s) they borrowed from to make different elements of this piece. I think I've just recently figured out a piece to that puzzle. The string pad/sound on the keyboard is from Kool & The Gang's 'Summer Madness.' In the lyrics, SS calls this girl "...sweet, thick and pretty...", which to me is close in cadence and/or inflection to 'Sweet Sticky Thing' by the Ohio Players! Theres another group/song where they're getting inspiration for the groove itself, but I can't think of it while their song is in my ear. Maybe you or another subscriber can figure that piece out.
@CCrawford39712 жыл бұрын
If you listen to Earth, Wind and Fire's song "Side By Side" from 1982 towards the end you can hear those chords being played slightly faster.

Bruno mars did the drums on this one. You could check the credits. Nice reaction guys.

For this track, bass by Thundercat, Guitar by Bruno and Drums by Andy.. Bruno mentioned this also in apple music interview. IAndy played drums for all tracks except SOTW is by Homer Steinwess. Bruno played solo guitar in After Last Night and Blast off. These all credits mentioned officially in their album AEWSS

Hey guys you want to hear old school live instruments from real bands !!!! Listen to Chuck brown and the soul searchers . The song is called Bustin loose from 1977. This is where Bruno and Anderson got a lot of ideas for their songs . Another one is called Strawberry Letter 23 , the song is by the Brothers Johnson, the album was the color red and the album smelled like real strawberries .. I think it was made in 1978. You will hear familiar beats and live instruments .. Look them up and listen to these groups.. Let me know what you guys think 😉
