Thanks to this Civvy Pipe Band the unique sound of the Brian Boru Pipes originally introduced long ago by the Drums & Pipes of The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers lives on. The pipes have several extra notes on the chanter in the lower register giving them their special effect. These pipes play well combined with a military band which the Royal inniskilling Fusiliers band and pipes did at one time before amalgamation in 1968 into The Royal Irish Rangers. The decision was made at that time to adopt Highland Pipes and thus the military tradition of the Brian Boru Pipes was lost. But fortunately it is preserved here.

These are Brian Boru bagpipes, these pipes have keyed chanters and the middle drone is called a baritone drone which gives the pipes more harmonics.
