We live on a fully fenced ranch, we have a Mali, she is here because she chooses to be. We know this now, as have seen her foot prints on the gate posts when she uses them to gain extra height to get over the fence.... A 10FT FENCE. she never runs off, never leaves my side... But clearly at some point in the evening, she likes to Jump the highest fence we have. She's an absolute meat missile and when in "Beast mode" rounds up everyone in a hot minute... Goats, Cats, kids, me, Mrs, Chickens. . All of us corralled into a corner of the ranch 😂😂😂

It’s not just that she jumps over the fence effortlessly, she understands her masters command to jump over. My boy Nico jumps, flys and can scale a 15ft fence by running up and jumping off of my back. I brought my boy home from my Army Special Forces A-Team. His handler was KIA and I adopted the dog. I had to go to training with him to learn the commands to speak to him. He’s so gentle with my daughter, but will fiercely protect his family.

With zero run up, the dog vertically jumped 6.5 feet, grabbed the top of the fence with its paws and climbed over the rest, EASILY, VERY EASILY. There's plenty of videos showing the capability of these animals jumping over 20' in the air, running up the side of buildings onto the roof, going up ladders, walking on power lines, yes power lines, like a tight rope walker and on and on... Check one out, you might learn something.

What is most important is to be athletic and strong enough for some rough play, obsessed with dogs and training, not upset by trivial matters such as replacing chewable items like mattresses and couches and have interesting places to visit daily.

​@Matt-ne6de outside of the normal chewing puppy phase if your dog is regularly chewing on furniture it has a serious anxiety problem or isn't getting enough physical and mental stimulation. If your dog does this I would highly encourage you to up your dogs enrich and consider joining a dog sport. Mals are an extremely serious commitment because to be happy they need high amounts of both physical and mental exercise, these dogs were bred for hard work and are happy when they have the need to work met in some way.

Watching this video, I realize something for the first time since we got our dog 14 years ago. She chooses to be with us. She is a shepherd mix. When we go for a walk, she likes to jump up with her front paws over very high fences and walks. She checks what’s on the other side, doing so to make sure everything is safe for us when we walk by peoples homes. 🙂 She can easily jump out of our yard if she ever wanted to yet she has never left us. 💕

My lab used to do that. Until I added invisible fence (shock collar) along top of wooden fence, I could not keep her in the yard. Any time I was leaving the house she’d get out and beat me to the car.... don’t forget me Dad, I’m coming too! She was easier to handle off leash than most dogs are on a leash. Don’t know who had her first, but grateful for training they gave her.
