The PVDA is indeed considered too extreme/populist and often also hypocritical to work together with and the NVA has in the past often played with the idea of breaking the cordon sanitaire with the Vlaams Belang to mount pressure on the other parties to not ignore the Flemish question for which Bart De Wever strongly but more reconciliatorily advocates. The PVDA is however already included in two local coalitions: in the Flemish community of Zelzate with Vooruit and in the subdistrict of Borgerhout (with Groen and Vooruit) within the biggest Flemish city of Antwerp (a city of which Bart De Wever is the mayor). Bart De Wever has now recently confirmed he would not form a coalition with Vlaams Belang because of its radical rhetoric and revolutionary stances.

Great video. I would say though that now, definitely after our elections, MR has distanced itself from Open VLD a lot more and Vooruit tries to generate the image of being social democrat but has gradually shifted to the right under influence of right-wing dominated Flanders as opposed to (traditionally) left-wing dominated Wallonia and Brussels, where PS has had a strong influence of PTB (the marxists) and Ecolo. MR has basically filled up the vacancy of a clear right-wing party in Wallonia in the most recent years, especially after the 2014-2018 Michel I government with the NVA. They won very big last election and are set up for realising big reforms without PS in government. Open VLD however was punished by the electorate for having internal struggles and an identity crisis; De Croo led a government which was dominated by PS influence on the federal level whereas the same party partook in the NVA dominated Flemish government. VLD obviously has a lot of concurrence from the majority right-leaning parties in Flanders but the left is generally speaking not very popular and it’s safe to say their electorate was divided among Vooruit and NVA.

Also after the election it must be noticed that Les Engagés have risen from their ashes under Prévot’s guidance and have become a strong third party in Wallonia, competing with PS and having surpassed the collapsed Ecolo. They align themselves with the right-liberal MR but retain a rather centrist position.
