I'm over here choked up. All he wanted to do was to be a normal kid, go to school and be accepted. With all of what he went through, he never had a bad word to say about anyone nor be a victim. I was very little when this happened but I remember him very well.

Sheri Lene Williams The first time I saw his story as a kid it made me sad. Ryan was one of the most kind hearted human being ever. It’s sad that he had to endure mistreatment. He was very handsome and smart. I just wish he never got sick and had to suffer. Today he could have been someone’s husband or dad today. God is a good God. Continue to Rest In Peace Ryan 😢😢😢😢😢

Spencer Gilchrest Yeah, the whole community of Kokomo back then should be ashamed of themselves for all the ignorance and prejudice they cause on Ryan, but when the house got shot at, the White family were like “That’s it! We’re getting the hell out of Kokomo!”. I’m glad that both Elton John and Michael Jackson became friends with Ryan and able to help him whenever they can to keep him alive.

@@princeofpop8 It was a BB gun, not a rifle or hand gun. People with HIV/AIDS were treated poorly in Kokomo and many other communities across Canada and the U.S. Not specific to him. That doesn't meant that it was right, but it is common in epidemics of infectious diseases. There were also those who stood up for Ryan in Kokomo. They suffered the abuse with him.

His exhibit at the Children's Museum scared me as a kid, but the reason why it scared was because I didn't know what it was or, really, who Ryan was. I had to push forward and educate myself on what AIDS was and what hemophilia was. At 12, I got his book for Christmas and I'm 24 now, and I've read that book cover to cover so many times, it's so worn. This is why education is so important! Fear and lack of education are the 2 main catalysts for chaos and hysteria.

This breaks my heart about what Ryan had to endure during those times! So much was new and unknown. People reacting from fear of the unknown were inflicting so much cruelty on him and his family. I am HiV + and was diagnosed in 1992. With the meds they have now, HIV + is now managed pretty much like Diabetes. As long as you stay on your meds, it is managed well. I owe a lot to this BRAVE young man!!

So hard to see Ryan so thin! He died not long after this aired. My husband Tim lived just as long after his diagnosis, dying of AIDS in 1995, three years after Ryan White's passing. He helped make the Ryan White Act possible, which paid for Tim and I to have people help me care for Tim at home. Tim and Ryan grew up in the same town, even went to the same church. I'd like to think about Ryan being at the pearly gate to welcome Tim home.
