After a lot of research I have narrowed my choices down to 2 helmets. I would love to see a side by side comparison of the Bell Bullitt vs the Biltwell Gringo S. Which sits lower on the head? Which better fits an intermediate oval head shape? Which is more comfortable? Which is less expensive? Which are you selling more of? Does either offer a transition shield? Do both offer the same safety ratings? Would like to see a shot of them both from the side view. Can the lining be removed for cleaning? ... etc.
@RevZilla9 жыл бұрын
fivefootsixtriumph Both fit about the same in terms on how low on the head. Neither is a perfect intermediate oval though. The Bell is slightly narrow, and the Biltwell is slightly round. That being said, I have a true intermediate oval head (Shoei RF-1200, GT-Air, Neotec, Arai Corsair V, Scorpion EXO-R2000 all fit me well in size medium), and I can wear both the Bullitt and Gringo S in medium too. As for price, the Gringo S is less expensive with its polycarbonate shell, but the padding is plush, so it fits a lot of people pretty well. The Bell uses a more expensive fiberglass shell but the liner is a bit thinner, so it doesn't accommodate as many variations in head shape. Neither offers a Transitions shield at all, but both meet the same DOT rating, both sell well, and both have removable liners for cleaning. -DrewZilla P.S. I'll see what I can do about photos!

I had a Bullitt in M but my size usually is S, it was too tight at first so i thought i had the correct size by sizing up. But after a year or two, it became too loose that I can even pull the chin bar down and the top part of the helmet would reach my nose. Sold it. Planning to buy another one, should I get the small instead?
@RevZilla11 ай бұрын
Depends on how the first Small fit on you when you say it was "too tight at first". A proper fitting helmet should be snug so the break in period doesn't create the same issue as your Medium did. But something that is so tight to not be able to focus on riding isn't very helpful either. Might be good to go to a shop and sit with a Small on for 10-15 minutes to see which side of that you are on. If the Small is too tight, you might just need to shop for a different helmet with a different fitment altogether.

I've heard that this helmet has a real annoying whistling sound. Has Bell done anything since to improve/fix this?
@RevZilla9 жыл бұрын
Jason Kinney No, they haven't made any changes to the helmet since launch. The potential whistling is more a result of riding position and bike, so it's not inherent in the helmet itself. -DrewZilla
@jkinney449 жыл бұрын
RevZilla Thanks Drew. What type of riding style makes it whistle? And is it unbearably annoying?
@RevZilla9 жыл бұрын
Jason Kinney There isn't a general riding style that makes it whistle. What I intended is that helmet noise can be caused by a lot of factors, such as rider height, riding position, windscreens, lack of windscreens, and even jackets can affect how air moves around the head. The main focus of the Bullitt is its retro look. If you want a quiet yet well-venting helmet, you may need to consider a modern-looking lid like the Shoei RF-1200. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/shoei-rf-1200-helmets

Hi I am looking to get size small but I worry that's it might be too tight. Should I get a medium instead and get ticker pads? Does the small and medium share the same shell size?
@RevZilla4 жыл бұрын
No, they are in two different shells, because the breakdown is XS-S, M-L, and XL-2X. While cheek pads are interchangeable across all helmet sizes, the head liners can only be swapped within the same shell. Unfortunately, you cannot make a size small larger around the crown, nor can you make size medium tighter around the crown of the head. The key is to get the fit correct around the crown of the head and then swap cheek pads if necessary. Remember that a helmet is tightest the first time you put it on, but it gets looser over time. Therefore, you should aim to fit size small if you can. -DrewZilla *bit.ly/BellBullitHelmets

No. Size large shares its shell with size medium, and size XL shares its shell with 2XL. You can only swap liners within each shell size, so medium with large and XL with 2XL. Joe Patton I started building streetfighters in HS in the early 90's out of wrecked 80's sportbikes. We would get an inexpensive (but safe) full-face helmets, paint it rattle can black (now called matte black) with left over bike paint, remove the visor, and use MX goggles for wind protection. I still use this technique for my urban lid (I live in SF). I get hordes of tech guys who are new to biking asking me where to get one on weekly basis. When I tell them what I did most seem truly disappointed. For reference I'm using a BILT I got for $49.00 and older goggles I already had (worth around $20.00). My urban retro lid is great for anything other than fast rides or touring. I have a Shoei RF1200 for that which is slightly more money than the Bullitt, but significantly better by any objective measure for absolutely anything motorcycle related. Cheers

Excellent video Anthony, always on top of your game 👍 I bought a Riot in size medium that fits me perfectly. will medium in a Bullit be the same ? Thank you much 🤝 I am inspired by this Helmet because of a French Reviewer who wore it while riding a CB1000-R which I have. It is a brand new 2019 1 that I bought in 2020 cash, it was on sale for $10,000. Got it out the door for $10,760 😎 the video I am talking about is on KZbin under the title: CB1000R MotorLive 👍

Well it meets the US DOT safety standard as well as the European ECE safety standard, so I'd say it's pretty safe. -DrewZilla

Wow, I bet that's a fab-looking helmet.........on your MOPED. I wear a (current) Bell Star and love it. Had an M2 before that. I'm a Bell fan.....but the roller derby look doesn't work. :(

This helmet is shit in every regard do yourselves a favour and don’t buy one light and looks cool that’s about it only ok as a spring summer helmet it’ll keep your head cool because you get a hurricane amount of wind blow through it and it’s noisy as hell biggest waste of money I’ve ever spent on a helmet.

Too bad Bell helmets are now your dime a dozen Chinese made helmets. They should of stayed in California. Just because they come out with their throwbacks looks doesn't take the fact that they sold their rights to offshore companies and no longer have the quality and reputation they had when they were made in the USA.

somebody should tell Bell to stop putting their logo so evidently and so randomly on their helmets, breaking the hole design and looks of it. wich by the way is an ugly logo. really is a turn off on the brand to me.
@carlmich1988 жыл бұрын
oh yeah just saw that this time their logo turned out to be a sticker! smart move Bell, maybe somebody told you about it lately..
