Thanks! I always like to, especially since it's always fun when you've got a long string of crossings like this, IMHO.

Still one of the more unusual crossing setups you've filmed...also like the catch. Might make the horn on that GP40-2LW into a Trainz asset if i can figure out what type it is

Thanks! It's a K3L, IIRC.

A bell only crossing is something you’d expect to see out in the Midwest, but not really in the east!

My parents and I plan on going to Savannah This coming Fall Break, I would I know when a Georgia Central, SOFR, or Heart of Georgia Train is Coming by a Location?
@freebrickproductions2 жыл бұрын
This line is only used by the SOFR. Generally speaking, they send a train out to CSX early in the morning, want to say around sunrise, and then that train will come back north a few hours later. They will also do a second run later in the day, but that can be either in the afternoon or evening (or even overnight) depending on the work they need to do. The Heart of Georgia doesn't run anywhere near Savannah, the closest their line gets is Vidalia, where they can interchange with the Georgia Central, though, when I was last down here, the easternmost section of the HOG wasn't being used. If you want to shoot them, your best bet is going over to Cordele. The GC's line runs up near the Amtrak Station on the edge of Garden City, and is the one that goes west through Pooler. They run a daily woodchip train out from Savannah in the morning to a plant in Bloomingdale and back, GC Y115. GC L783 will also come into Savannah and head for CSX's yard on the A Line (where the SOFR interchanges at) I want to say in the middle of the day as well. If they have high-priority cars, they might be able to get back to the GC and head west at a pretty decent time as well, but, if not, then it all depends on when CSX lets them out. The SOFR, HOG, and GC all run Monday through Friday.

4-piece windshield? Possible that this locomotive was previously owned by a Canadian railroad.
@freebrickproductions Жыл бұрын
It was. It's a GP40-2LW, all of which were owned by CN at one point or another.

Interesting especially since I assume you live in Illinois (Metra username and prfp) where they are most common.
@ULRailfan3 жыл бұрын
What time do they usually run?
@freebrickproductions3 жыл бұрын
They usually do two runs a day, Monday through Friday. Seems they usually head down to CSX around 7 AM, and then they head back to the harbor about 11 AM (though when I saw them for this video, it was about 9:30 AM, apparently). The afternoon run can be anywhere from 4-5 PM, or even as late as like 1 AM.
