Without the wooden shafted clapper. The were nothing special. With them, they are something amazing!

That's bad. A visiting ringer should always be asked to ring, even if it's only rounds. After all, how would they feel if they were visiting a tower where ringing was taking place and not asked to join in. I ring somewhere where the bells are challenging to many (even very good ringers) but we would NEVER not invite visitors to ring. That's just plain good manners.
