Here in Portugal we use mainly Xhylophene and it works well it's a petroleum base product. Unfortunately it needs several applications . I do it twice a year in all the woods of my grandparents home but i can tell you it's a long battle. How do you " seal it " ?

There is really no need to get chemical treatment. Just bring a hair dryer and you can cook all the worms and eggs. I got some really old timber, and I just heated them with the hair dryer, and the worms came out themselves

I’m curious, can this cost the same type of damage to laminate flooring? I’m not sure if I got a super worm Or one of these and made a hole in my laminate flooring and two sections plus it’s a little soft on the other edge. I’m wondering if visited please tell me to treat my flooring.
@youzhou294611 ай бұрын
@@richard5981 I think what you should do is inspect the underfloor. The bore loves wet areas and won't survive in dry wood so if you found them in the floor, it might be some water source that wet your floor. My colleague had the borer issue in the floor and I told her and she found a water leak under that area.

My son ordered me a wooden mortar and pestle from Amazon and it came with wood worms! I noticed that there was dust in the package when I opened it so I cleaned it off and put it on the counter. The next day I noticed dust again and wiped it off. On the third day when there was dust again I realized what was going on and wrapped it in a ziplock bag and threw it in the trash! I was afraid they'd get into my furniture!

Do you think that the worm can get into not infested furniture? I got a table countertop and it was very expensive. It was completely wrapped in the garage and when we opened it we saw that there was dust and two holes..my father says the warm was already on the furniture when we saw it,but I think that the worm got into the wrapped countertop in our garage.What do you think?When we bought it , it didn’t have any wholes.

I bought an old workbench to use as a kitchen island a few months ago and have just noticed extensive borer holes - they seem relatively new and now I’m worried that all my lovely antique furniture will be infested! Should I treat all my furniture? Also I live in an apartment with no outside area, can I do this treatment inside? Sorry for all the questions!

@BellaRenovare4 жыл бұрын
okay so there are different species, the ones that get into the house would be different, but again if they got into your house they would do the same type of damage a termite may do, so although it really is a nuisance its not super common, just inspect your furniture and IF you think it has it, keep it in the garage away from other wood pieces (because if a beetle hatches it can fly over) or outside under something covered. Treat it, seal it and go about your day :) truthfully I THINK her son did that damage, she caught him going to town on her kitchen table so I am 100% confident that it was a prior infestation and was treated but with a weakened top her sons had a hayday

What about heating the house til they die of thirst? Or does wood provide enough moisture always? I think I can dry wood. But it the bearing wooden structure it's quite thick. I have a dehumidifier too, I'm gonna let it run more in the room that has the worms. Tired of vacuuming weekly and getting this moldy smell but I think that comes from the wall behind it. I think there's a leak in the roof. I rent this place so I don't really care but my landlord isn't repairing it.

Well...I love your work Crys´Dawna but If you have woodworms holes, that I couldnt see in this video, I advice to do more than this. In Europe we have a lot of vintage furniture made of wood that have this problem, and it´s a problem. To be sure you kill the woodworm you will need to inject a woodworm killing product into every hole you see (I use Xilamon). One by one you will put the liquid inside with a syringe. After that is when you spray or paint the entire piece of furniture with the product. Once this is done you wrap the entire piece of furniture in thick plastic and close it the best you can to create a toxic environment. Leave it like this for at least 1 week. It is done this way to ensure that you kill possible larvae that live inside the wood in the galleries they form. Otherwise they can go back out. I do this with all furniture that has signs of woodworm, and preventive with all vintage furniture. But this is the manual technique that does not guarantee anything, if you want guarantees you will have to do a cooling treatment or another teatment from a specialized company. I hope that help you if you ever find this small holes, usually on the places where there is the varnish has been lost and the raw wood is visible (legs mainly and under the boards).
