There is a concept called the "Rule of Threes," basically the odd number thing. However, it's not uncommon to feel the need to add different elements beyond the 3.....behind or laying flat on the buffet (dresser, night stand or whatever piece you're staging). The other thing I've expanded on recently to change it up are back drops which can transform that white wall into anywhere in the world. I've devised a few ways to hang textiles - painted drop cloth, saree or two, woven screen, paper shreds or whatever - behind my painted furniture to create "the look" I need to make the piece pop, take center stage, do that thing you mentioned "catch the eye of the person scrolling," make your piece stand out. Yes, it takes time and we all know time is money, but like you say it's the difference in the $200 piece vs the $700 beauty, or $700 vs the $2500 armoire, hutch or buffet. C'est la ve....
@gtiernan13 жыл бұрын
100% agree! The background/backdrop is as important as the actual piece, and yes, it can be a lot of work and definitely money but that allows us to get even more creative!

Nature stages things in odd numbers. That is why 4 leaf clovers are "lucky" - usually clovers are 3 leaved. (Hope I said that right.) I haven't made an effort to sell my pieces as of yet. Most of them I'm doing for me and to learn. Eventually, that may change, because I really like playing with the paint!

Staging is my jam! If someone wanted to pay me to stage for a living I would love it! I usually am already thinking about what I am going to use to stage with as I am painting lol I know-weird. When I am out thrifting for pieces to paint and little items to give new life to for my vendor booth I find myself saying nope lets keep that to stage instead lol. I also use the stuff I sell in my Etsy shop for staging so my staging items are plentiful lol. I've also tried to shamelessly plug myself to try selling my little creations to furniture companies and magazines for their staging needs too lol.

Totally agree with the staging concept. I upcycle lots of different things which I use in staging my furniture pieces; as I have only just gotten into furniture makeovers in the last six months. Example: I am working on a western themed vintage high-back chair. I do have a nice white wall to stage it, but I surround it by a vintage floor lamp and maybe a little end table with some western themed items (yes, odd numbers is key and definitely easier to arrange for a staging!). Thanks for all your great tips. You're so inspirational and definitely keep me moving forward with the furniture makeovers.

Hello ChryDawna😊 You look especially beautiful today! Excellent advice! Love 10 minute Tuesdays❣️I love to stage....I know you used to have a booth...I did too...you learn staging makes a big difference...as well as moving things etc. Your example of a blue buffet could easily be staged with a white bowl filled with lemons or oranges....maybe a neutral lamp...sometimes people make it harder then it has to be. What absolutely cracks me up is people placing things on say Facebook Marketplace for sale for someone who wants to buy previously owned furniture .....and they have laundry and crap all over the piece the floors the walls...and ask big bucks for it!! Sometimes you can’t tell what’s for sale lol😂🤣 Then there are those who post a finished piece with one picture and no measurements....that maddens me when no measurements included in description! Maybe “Description” of finished pieces for sale could be another topic...Thank you for sharing😊kim
@BellaRenovare3 жыл бұрын
oooh seeeee you just gave me an idea for another 10 minute Tuesday!!!!! it's so important to put in the extra work for measurements and such too! someone may just scroll by not wanting to do the extra work to ask. thank you for always having such great input!! I appreciate you so so much!
@kimberlydrake86543 жыл бұрын
It is true....I’m sure many buzz right by an item with a description providing little or no information. Most of the time I assume it’s laziness but then sometimes I think do people think this is a good way to engage in conversation with a potential buyer? When I’m scrolling first thing I look for is measurements....and I’m talking about to buy a piece to re-do.....if I was looking at finished pieces...yea the pic will stop you....next thing you need to know is.....is it going to fit? The other thing is when someone does message you and ask questions ....honesty is huge....if you don’t know...say you don’t know....yea I could go on...but I know you know❣️ Thank you for complimenting my input ....I try😉

I think you should use whatever have you available, using what you have and making it work is better that not doing it at all. Does that make sense?

The The color wheel is a super idea. Thank you. This I will use in my own home. I just got a huge camel color sectional, and I have no idea what colors to put with it. Right now I just have white with it.🙄
