As an expatriate Mauritian it’s always good to see some special spots of Belle Mare. A pure gem. The space and the historical features make it a special place. Happy that you’re enjoying your holiday there. Make the most of it

Hi Bryan and Riki, I enjoy watching your video of Belle Mare and also I have been following most of your video shoots in Mauritius, now based in UK I must say that these shoots bring fond memories of Mauritius. I must say that as a frequent visitor to South Africa back in the seventies when I was in the Mauritius Merchant Navy I likes the towns of Durban Cape Town Port Elizabeth and East London. I and my son was in Mauritius in Nov 2019 for a short stay. I enjoyed my stay especially in Grand Bay, Regards and keep up the good works or video shoots, thank you.

Thanks for your reply of 10/02/2021. My side of the family are based in Ca, and Hawaii and I divide my time between travelling to The US and UK. There is an important event which is taking place in Port Louis on the 12/02/21- the Chinese New Year- it will be very exciting to capture the New years celebration over the weekend. Thanks, regards.

I am a Mtian by birth but you are educating me on my country's history and hidden treasures. Belle-Mare used to be a favorite fishing spot. I lived a bicycle ride from there, and we used to cultivate tomatoes in the sandy plots not far from the beach proper.
@BryanDiscoversWorld3 жыл бұрын
I always wondered how tomatoes could grow in the almost beach sand.

Thank you for sharing your Mauritius sightseeings. As a kid during late 70s, I learned swimming at Belle Mare, and instantly recognize the limestone building as I used to climb it. I am glad about your explorations as it fulfills a lifelong desire to know more about these places, and never had an opportunity to do so while growing there.

Hi Bryan and Riki. Great video as usual. Thanks for showing our locality to the world. Belle mare has one of the best beaches in the world. From min 8 (central beach). Please go back on a sunny day and walk along the coast towards residence hotel and lux. I used to go to this beach every weekend as a child before the 5 star hotels took over and made access difficult for locals. Natural swimming pool and you will get more "wow" I hope!

Sounds great! We are planning on going back, so hopefully it will be a sunny day and we can experience more beautiful beaches and a couple more wows

LOVE Belle Mare but it can get a bit windy on the beach I found sometimes. It's an old lime kiln I think from what I remember but they didn't have those new top barriers before. That sugar mill is so cool, I've only been there once...don't you just love old ruins.
@BryanDiscoversWorld3 жыл бұрын
Totally love them, we were walking around most of the time with our mouths open. During the summer there is less wind, but the one time we were there in August you couldn't stand straight from the wind.

Enjoyed this one. That sugar mill seems like such wasted space, would be nice to see it developed into something the public can benefit from. Events space would be fantastic I agree 👍🏽

This used to be a four a chaux . Making chalk powder from corals . Making chalks and also for white washing walls. Now with the introduction of paints , the four a chaux is no longer used. 80 years ago Mauritius had lots of corals. Now the sea is poluted with chemicals. Coral reefs are damaged, Also people have been removing too many corals.
