We used to camp with the whole family. At night we sat around a fire and ate biryani, chicken and enjoyed swimming. The sunrise is amazing. Wavy and windy. Also you can dive with reef sharks. They are friendly and have a nice smile. They do not bite. Some divers even feed them. But you need to be careful, it is easy to get lost at sea because you can just be carried away by the power of the waves.

As a boy scout sixty years ago in Mauritius once or twice we pitched our tents at Belle Mare and stayed for the weekend. But our regular camping was every year on ile Bernache for over a week. Everyday our provision of water and bread came from the mainland by a small boat. Ile Bernache and ile d'Ambre are off the north coast of Mauritius. We had to get authorization from the administration of the St Antoine Sugar Estate to camp on ile Bernache. At one very accessible spot in the sea at ile Bernache the corals are not white but instead of different colors and when you remove them from the water they quickly lose their beautiful colors and look like ordinary corals - fascinating!

Wow, what a great experience that must have been. We are making a plan to visit Amber Island soon I will check out Bernache. Thanks

@@BryanDiscoversWorld I'm looking forward for your videos on Bernache and Amber Islands. I have fond memories of our scout camps on Bernache island. I remember the camaraderie, the hard work entailed by each patrol in cleaning up an area to set up camp, the competition between the different patrols to win points in order to escape washing up and other menial jobs. We also learned our responsibilities towards God and our country. As young people we were very impressed by the whole experience. Have a nice weekend.

Hi, you've noticed a permanent breeze which characterise the East coast, called the south east trade wind. It has a direct effect on the climate of Mauritius throughout the year. Probably that is why there's a lot of seaweeds and other algea on the beach due to the constant breeze and waves. Planters used to collect them and used as natural compost in their plantation. Bringel Belle Mare (brinjal) are quite famous for their quality and colour. Nice video again.

Thanks for the info. I would love to try those brijals.

The lovely people of Mauritius who were praying is what this island is about. Bryan, consider yourself lucky to get that blessing - Hinduism isn't a religion, its a way of life its not abrahamic remember that.

Hindus do a lot of fasting and praying before religious ceremonies. Flowers, fruits and home made sweets like ladoos are offered. They are eaten after prayers.
