Wish this breed was easier to obtain in the UK. Does anyone know how they compare to 1) A Papillon/Phalene (other than size obviously), and 2) A Cocker Spaniel? For temperament and physical traits. A Papillon is ranked the most intelligent spaniel, being in the top 10 of all breeds, and is heavily used in agility, both traits usually more applied to a border collie. How about the Kooiker? The theory is the Kooiker is an upscaled Papillon because 1) its coat is white with dash of colour, 2) both spaniels from west europe, 3) both slender legs and paws, 4) both breeds feature in old paintings from famous artists. The Papillon's ears are a superficial difference because Papillon's originally started out with drop ears, and both varieties are found in the same litter to this day.
