Pyramid Peak - The Voyage

Pyramid Peak is part of the crème in the spheres of EM of the New Berlin School style. The Leverkusen trio manages marvelously to weave structures of hypnotic rhythms where the down-tempo flirts with the up-tempo while drawing long musical routes of which the minimalist bases refuse nevertheless the simplicity. 'The Voyage ' is from their 2013 album "Anatomy" . It is their 9th album, and I'm telling straight away; it's an inescapable. Built on 5 musical structures which border more or less the same length, "Anatomy" plunges us into the heart of the most beautiful years of the cosmic EM with slow intros which unblock on beautiful harmonious rhythms. Rhythms which skillfully change of skins and swap shapes towards and drift a mesmerizing sonic universe where the sequences flicker of their frivolity under the attacks of percussions which hammer the fragility of the ethereal ambiances with strikings which destabilize the listening.

The story of Pyramid Peak begins in the year 1988. At that time Axel Stupplich and Andreas Morsch - both from Leverkusen/Germany - met through a common friend.
Axel Stupplich, born 1967, had his first contacts with electronic music when he was 13. He was impressed by the music of J.M.Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Kitaro and Gandalf.
Andreas Morsch, born in 1966, was fascinated by electronic music too but besides J.M.Jarre and Tangerine Dream he was impressed especially by the music of Klaus Schulze.
With a small equipment they started - first everyone for his own - to make their own music and since 1988 they founded the band "Digital Dream".
Their first releases were the tapes Space and The Second followed by the tape Digital Mind in 1989.
1990 the two tapes Fractals and Sternenmusik were released and Axel and Andreas started their first steps to make this music a little bit popular.
The last tape of them was called Explorer and it was recorded in 1991. After this last tape Andreas stopped to make music because of healthy reasons.
in 1995 Axel met Uwe Denzer and he gave fresh impetus into the music.
As a first act they changed the pseudonym into Pyramid Peak because even Andreas and Axel were not very happy about the old name for a certain time.
One year later in 1996 Axel and Uwe started to work on their first CD which should contain new songs but also some older materials from the former released tape Explorer. But it lasts two more years until the cd atmosphere was released in 1998 in a small edition. The final reason for the release was the return of Andreas into the band in the summer of 1998. Since then they have composed several albums.

I live these kind of music video combinations, very good to relax to. Back in the day we used to make our own videos by watching TV/vhs with the sound turned down and our own music on the stereo. This is like watching 2001 Space Odyssey with Tangerine Dream on headphones , except better! Thanks for the good work.

It depends on which videomaker you are using. Lightworks is a good programme, and Adobe has some interesting stuff. ( you have to pay for that one ) but there are more possibilities.

Correct. Most of the modern EM is from Germany. Where it all started with Klaus Schulze , TD, Kraftwerk.

pierpaolo toninelli many musicians have been influenced by Tangerine Dream. ( as well as Klaus Schulze , Jarre, Vangelis, Kraftwerk etc etc ) . That's oké. Their legacies will live on.
