If someone tells you that you're crazy for fishing in winter they are probably right but you should find out for yourself if your crazy.

Nice job of getting out this time of year. We have no snow in southern MN but the lakes are locked up. We’ll have to enjoy your adventures for a while. Thanks for sharing.

I hate when they freeze over. Hopefully they will open up for you before too long. Thanks for the comment and watching.

Lol it's been years but I remember breaking ice with my boat trying to get out to some open water.

I've done that from time to time as well. Some of it has been pretty thick but always makes me a bit nervous to do it.

I went today too because it was so nice out but the good weather didn’t help me.

Never no unless you try! Went to northern Ontario years back the first week of June it was 25 degrees in the morning and we had to bust through a thin layer of ice with a old cedar strip boat with a 20horse merc. We jigged 1/2 ounce Hopkins spoons right close to the boat in deep water and killed the smallies. Tried it a couple of times around here in 20+ deep water with decent success. Seems to work better with a bass gel scent or a small power bait grub trailer. Keep up the good videos👍

I never use a jigging spoon unless I’m ice fishing. But I bet it would work pretty well with your tips.

always tough when the guides start freezing thats when i usually pack it up haha the zman willowvibe chatterbait head with a baby z too is the only bait i ever get bit on in the winter. Only winter pattern ive ever found thats worked is on my lake they hang by a big rock wall all winter and the sunny days they will chase the shad shallow and ill catch em but after so many trips i only have confidence when that sun has been out all day now.

I tried a few of those willow chatterbait heads but didn’t catch anything so now they are buried in a box. I’ll have to give them another try this winter. I used to use jerkbaits only and now mainly throw a blade bait but I’m not sure it’s been any better for me.

@@geezersbassin2567 definetely worth a try considering how hard winter can have had some killer days on it when i can catch em on the blade bait or jerkbait
