Thank you for posting. Don't you use a cast stand? Also what happens if the patient needs a cast shoe? How long have you to wait until a cast shoe is put on? It would nice to see that on a patient. Thank you for the informational videos---appreciate the effort.

You can absolutely use a cast stand, which would be placed under the second toe and behind the ball of the foot. Use of the cast stand can depend on the comfort of the patient and the preference of the medical assistant. Cast stands can be helpful in making sure the foot and ankle are at a 90 degree angle. The use of a cast shoe can depend on the injury or reason a patient is in a cast! This cast was non-weight bearing, as many of our casts are, so a cast shoe would not be needed! if my cast were non weight bearing i would still ask for a cast shoe to wear over it. cast shoes come in different colors like blue. black, tan, and gray. there is even a sandal type as well. i think a clog type would be neat. it would have to have a velcro or elastic strap on the back of it. great video

Question, does choosing more than one color cost more or does medicaid cover it? I might need a cast and I'm curious

Yes because it depends on how much of the material your using and how much goes to the bin with mine I chose 3 colours and it came to triple the amount but with insurance it was free.
