I'm sitting here in South Africa and trying to understand the sadness of having the Barra down below the dame wall. Is that just because these fish were part of an amazing fishery above the dam wall, or are they going to somehow die below the dam wall? Sorry, bit ignorant of the fishes life cycle😅

The dam "tinaroo" is stocked with fingerling Barra They live their whole lives there and grow massive. It's a sport fishing destination.The catch is they need salt water to breed, and once over the dam wall if they survive there is farming channels and very large waterfalls to be able to reach the salt. I don't think many would make it.

Zero mate. 125 metre drop, with a flow rate of 265000 megalitres per day ( over 3 million litres per second )
